Spent some time with my sister this weekend and she just tested positive for Covid and has bilateral pneumonia. Sat down at a bar for about two hours and had a couple drinks catching up. What's the best way to prepare myself for what seems inevitable?

Im a bigger guy and Covid has already played a part in two family members deaths with an aunt in the hospital right now.

Currently taking zinc, vitamin c, aspirin, and antacid (basically what they told my mom to take when she had it)

This was doc Rev's short answer when another physician tested positive:

Quote:

Personally, I would take Ivermectin 12mg today and another 12mg on Day 3, Doxycycline 100mg BID, Vit D 20,000 to 50,000IU now then 4,000IU per day, famotidine 10-20mg BID, Zinc 50mg BID, Quercetin 1-2g BID, Melatonin 10mg q hs, NAC 600mg BID and a baby aspirin. Also consider VIt C 2,000IU 2-3 times per day. Make sure you drink plenty of liquids and rest.

I got it all except for the things that require an Rx. Thanks for sharing

welcome.

Also I would recommend a media diet and read the 'got covid' thread here. You have risk factors, sure but odds are still in your favor for a mild course. Anxiety won't help you.

Oh and I forgot my usual first recommendation - get a pulse ox. Really helps with anxiety.

I'd also wait at least 5 days from contact before getting tested.

You'll be all right. Stay on top of it and pay close attention to your symptoms. Don't hesitate to seek medical help if your O2 sats change. You can get a $20 pulse oximeter in 24 hours off Amazon.

Otherwise, if you get the mild disease, it's literally like a cold that lasts a long time (14 days for me), has odd symptoms, and then has a fatigue phase that really sucks.

Chances are very high you will be mildly affected. Hang in there.

Little update. Today marks the 5th day. Still no symptoms. Probably getting tested tomorrow or Saturday just to be sure
