Had covid back in late November. It wasn't fun, but thankfully wasn't too bad. Still don't have my taste back 100%.
Come to Tuesday night, find out I was exposed to someone with symptoms. I wouldn't normally be concerned, but I'm starting to have soreness in my calves, which is how covid started for me last time.
Just not sure if I'm being paranoid and it's in my head, or if I need to start back up on the covid regimen that Dr. Coates recommends and also isolate.
Thoughts?
Appreciate the help!

Let's hope that you have immunity. It seems likely particularly since you had it not long ago! One of the doctors posted on a thread about vaccines that getting one quickly after having has Covid would offer little additional protection. I think you have every reason to believe you won't get it again! My fingers are crossed for you.

I had a dentist appt today for a cleaning. My hygienist has already had Covid. She is can get the vaccine due to her job, but said she is young and healthy and was told by her doctor that she has at the minimum 90 days of immunity. It could be more but they are telling people 90 days.she will get her vaccine when more become available.

I've been assuming 90 days which is what most seem to say.

You can get a free antibody test (I know it doesn't address your immediate concern) to see if you have antibodies:

OP, hope you are ok and don't have it again. If you do, being reinfected under 90 days would have you in a medical journal it's so rare from articles I have read. All the best to you.

All the recent studies show for the vast, vast majority natural immunity will last 6-8 months at minimum and most likely much longer. Like most things there are always exceptions and outliers. The wild card here is the unknown of the variants.

The variant being called the South Africa variant is more apt to reinfect based on what I'm reading. I'm fairly concerned about it as it is now in South Carolina and I'm sure elsewhere.

Thanks y'all! Still having soreness in my calves, but otherwise symptom free. Fingers crossed that it stays that way.
Had carpal tunnel surgery a couple weeks ago on both hands, so haven't started working out again yet. That's why the soreness has me on alert.
Appreciate the insight and well wishes!

A 90 day warranty so the CDC says.

Didn't Boris Johnson get it twice? Just look what it did to his hair!

In this study 43,000 anti-body positives patients were followed up for a 35 week period. The study indicated 2 reinfections per 10K infections.

Conclusions Reinfection is rare. Natural infection appears to elicit strong protection against reinfection with an efficacy >90% for at least seven months.

I saw one news item that said that if you have had covid, you might only need one vaccination dose. I don't know how accurate that is, though.

If only two out of 43k got reinfected, it sounds like no doses is plenty

It was 2 per 10,000, not 2 per 43,000.

In any event, there are a number of factor that could affect this. For example, 35 months might be within the typical immunity. And some might not seek a test the second time.

Also, if those who have had it work harder to avoid reinfection, that could affect it. I was talking to a nurse yesterday about this. She has had it once and is now being more careful to avoid being infected than before.

In any event, those who haven't had it aren't going to avoid getting it without vaccinations.

From https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2021/02/03/covid-reinfection-study/

Quote:

Case reports of re-infection have been pretty rare. But now, a not-yet peer-reviewed pre-print study of nearly 2,000 young, healthy Marine Corps recruits concludes reinfection is not that rare.

Of the recruits who tested positive for COVID antibodies at the beginning of training, "almost a fifth and so getting infected does not exclude you getting reinfected, and it's going to be common," said Dr. Stuart Sealfon of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai.

Dr. Sealfon points out, even with reinfection, the young recruits were mostly asymptomatic but still able to spread the virus.

I'd love to read the study itself and not CBS interpretation of it.

It's always a good idea to read the actual paper. We've seen people in the past completely misrepresent what medical papers actually said.

Locating it might take some sleuthing, though.
