Since I will be traveling I needed to have a positive antibody test or a negative covid test. I had my first vaccine (Moderna) on Dec 31 and my second dose on Jan 28. I had my antibody test on Jan 29. I figured 4 weeks after my first dose I would for sure have at least some antibodies but my test came back negative. I am in the medical field but with very limited knowledge on immunity. I assume even with negative antibodies that I still have immunity through T-cells??? Can anyone with more knowledge enlighten me - I'm just really curious about how all this works. Also I had a huge reaction (chills, rigors, sweating, headache) after my second dose.

who's requiring the negative covid test? Why would your proof of vaccine not be enough? I think proof of vaccine should suffice.

I totally agree with you but sometimes common sense is nowhere to be found in those making these regulations. We are traveling to St. John USVI.

My understanding is that it depends on the antibody test your are getting. The vaccines produce a different type Of immune response than that if the actual virus. A lot of antibody test are designed and specific to the antibodies produced from actual infection.

Vaccines are producing an antibody specific to just the spike protein of the virus.

At least that is my understanding of how our antibody test works and why it doesn't pick up vaccination antibodies.

I asked this question on the other antibody thread. Never had Covid. 2 weeks ago neg rapid Covid test, neg rapid antibody test, neg pcr test (bc my wife tested positive on rapid Covid). I got Pfizer first shot Thursday, and am doing the free antibody test tomorrow and was wondering if that would affect it.

It is crazy world at the moment nothing makes sense.

I am going to Jamaica next week. Per Jamaica law I have to have a negative PCR test 10 days prior to travel.

Once on the resort I have to test negative to travel back to the USA.

Once back in the USA, per a new rule from HR last week, I have to quarantine another 7 days and test negative yet again prior to returning to patient contact.

I am vaccinated x2 now.

I have MUCH higher risk of catching COVID daily in clinic compared this trip. It makes no sense.

yes, as posted above...

free covid antibody test; research study UTMB

I went a couple of hours ago. I had my text with a reference number. They use "clinical pathology laboratories" which is a chain like LabCorp and are all over. When I went in, they did not ask for the text reference number... just the last three letters of my last name (this took me longer to recount than I expected, such a random question), DOB, and first name. No appt necessary. They took me right away, took one standard vile of blood, and sent me on my way. 5 min total. They said they would text me the results. I'm curious because I got the Pfizer vaccine shot 1 thursday, but I have read that covid antibodies and vaccine antibodies are different. we will see. Just wanted to post info for others.
