My mother is high risk(1b) who lives for me for the time being and I am responsible for some of her care. Where do I fall in the vaccine priority hierarchy? I've heard conflicting information and just want clarity. I have family members that are on me to sign up and get it ASAP, but I don't want to "jump the line" since I'm healthy (as far as I know) and meet none of the 1a or 1b criteria.

Just looking for a little clarity.

https://www.dshs.state.tx.us/coronavirus/immunize/vaccine.aspx

Definitions for groups after 1B are not yet defined, so hard to say. Probably have to sit tight for a month or two.

Group 1B is pretty big.

Just go get it for your mom's sake. No one at the vax sites are confirming 1b. If they try, claim HIPAA.
Username checks out.

Thanks. I did check the 1b list and don't meet any of them(at least how I interpret it). Just trying to balance keeping my mom safe versus making sure those who need it receive it.

Why wouldn't your mother just get it? Just curious because there isn't any real certainty that being vaccinated means you can't carry/transmit it. Also, it would seem your mom is higher on the priority list.

Yes that is the obvious thing to do and she's already on the list and we're just waiting. I was just curious about the rules regarding care givers because I was getting conflicting info.

I gotcha. I'm sure you'll figure it out. I for one have no interest in the "vaccine". I don't trust the new technology, and the unknowns about it are too numerous. So while you're in limbo, I encourage you to thoroughly read all the data sheets and potential side effects. And, do some critical thinking before you decide. I think it's important to remember that it was a race to develop, has not been proven, and the virus itself has a 99+% survival rate. So, the risks of taking the "vaccine" likely far outweigh the virus itself for the one taking it. On top of that, if it does nothing to stop the spread, what's the point?

Have a friend in Harris county that takes care of her elderly mother who is battling cancer and had a stroke recently.

MD Anderson handled the vaccination for the mom.
My friend went to the vaccination center on the first day Harris county was doing them (when the call center froze up) and they didn't hesitate to give her the shot when she explained the situation.

Thanks for the input everyone. Catag: Your line of thinking has gone through my head as well regarding how they pushed this through. I joked with friends that I look forward to what my X-Men mutant power will be after I take it. Just hoping I don't get one of the lame mutant powers

What I would do is try signing up and if counties and health depts say you are qualified, get on the waiting list at least. To me, you should not feel the least bit concerned about "cutting in line" when you are caring for an at risk, qualified individual, whether you do it from home for a family member or work at a nursing home. I would never consider that at all cutting. Sure, a 30 year old with no connections to 1a or 1b and is completely healthy gets a shot somehow now? That is no doubt a debatable situation (in the sense that in the end we need as many vaccinated as possible so to that end it can be perceived as a good thing regardless). But you actually have a qualified individual depending on you for certain things. You need to take the shot once you get the chance.

I live in New Braunfels and the City of Seguin had 30 last minute openings last Wed. A group of 10 signed up and we got vaccinated, and we have our date for shot #2. We do not fall in the 1b group. No questions asked. Seguin had openings today.
