Hi - I am 10 days out from my second dose of Moderna vaccine. I know you want some side effects (as that's an indication your body's immune system is fighting the "virus".) Anything I can or should do to prep?

I thought about taking vitamins or various things but don't necessarily want to rev up my immune system to only make the response worse. So curious what the recommendation is (if anything) to prep for second dose to minimize side effects?

Dont take Tylenol or Ibuprofen before as a preventative is what I read.

Tylenol and melatonin before you sleep. Other than that just get ready to suck it up if you get symptoms, they only hang around for a day.

Don't take anything. Let your body deal with it naturally.

Some people are making a mountain out of a molehill about the side effects from the 2nd shot. It's not that big of a deal. Some minor chills and aches that are gone after a day. I've felt worse after a long night of drinking.

This. It does suck for a day but this is not like the flu or any other illness u may have had. You recover to 100% in 24-36 hours. There is no lingering effects...at least in my case. A few days after and you will forgot it ever happened

Not medical advice but taking Claritin starting at least a few days before your second has seemed to help.

& Maybe a Zyrtec the night before as well.

How do you know it helped? If you had taken nothing, you may have still been fine.

I read a story in the Atlantic and the author described her husband's reaction to the vaccine. It was worse than any illness i have experienced in the last 20 years. Maybe she was embellishing but it sounded awful. Definitely made me nervous.

It was not fun for me but luckily it only last for 24-36 hours. If you have the day off afterwards you will be fine. Stay hydrated leading up to it, minimize alcohol intake & NSAIDS prior to it/afterwards if you need something Tylenol (the way it works should not impede the vaccines effectiveness). If you have to work the next day like I did you just have to suck it up. Good luck!

It hits everyone different, I had no adverse effects after 2nd dose. Arm was a little sore, but less than 1st shot. Good luck.

Bad, take Motrin.
