... by Tarrant County to get the vaccine. More doses available than there are 1A/1B registrants who can make it in.

In Tarrant County, when registering, you can answer NONE to the underlying health condition. One lady registered last Thursday at my urging and got the vaccine this morning.

Tarrant county is doing great at getting as many needles into arms as possible.

I know of at least 12 sites used by the county and I think there are probably more

How long should it take to get contacted and how do you get contacted? Just my personal experience but I have been on the list since early Jan (mid 50s - no underlying conditions) and haven't heard anything.

Weird. I registered back in January and still haven't been called. Per an email sent today, they said they are working through their registrations and are currently on January 7.
In talking with sources connected to Meyer's family on Sunday, there was laughter about the persistence of the Texas pursuit.

For 2nd round I was supposed to get shot during the winter storm. Got contacted Thursday of that week, got shot saturday as the last snow was melting

My husband and I (1b) registered with Tarrant County on January 6th. Finally got contacted last Wednesday for a shot on Friday. By then, we'd both already received our 2nd round in Weatherford.

Yeah, 1B, registered with tarrant on 1/10. Just got my registration ID this morning (just the ID itself, no appointment, and this was over 4 weeks after that failed email blast)

Thankfully was able to get signed up with CVS so I cancelled my tarrant/denton registrations.

Things are getting better. But i don't think tarrant county's vaccination has opened up by any means.

I also got contacted by tarrant county for the vaccine unexpectedly. I got my second shot this past Tuesday. I am 36 and answered none for underlying health conditions. I know several other people who have had the same experience.

Wow. Also in Tarrant, no underlying issues, 34. Registered in early February fully expecting to not hear anything until April or later. I would be pretty pumped to get a random call with an appointment.

Everytime I read something like this I get angry all over again. I am not really angry, because I did not wait on Tarrant county, but the facts are I signed up with underlying condition on Jan 10 and have never been contacted.

i did get a robo call from them last week asking for patience for them to work through their lists. They had according to their website vaccinated almost 300,000 people in 12 weeks. They say in the call and online that over 600,000 are registered. On the county website you find of those that are registered about 400,000 are "eligible" they do let you register whether you are eligible or not. So from what you are saying they are scheduling from the entire pool not those that are eligible. This does not track with their statements online or on social media.

UPDATE:Tarrant County is having too many no-shows. Since people were encouraged to register on multiple sites, the belief is people got the vaccine elsewhere and just ignored the later contact from Tarrant County.

So the County is trying to clean up their list. E-mails/texts are going out asking people.if they wish to remain on the list. If you ignore it, you'll get dropped.

Thanks for the quick response.

Do you know if it was a reliable account? Don't want my friend to lose her spot but don't want her to get taken by a scam either. I didn't get a text myself but I removed myself earlier this week.

I can't see anything from TCPH or any other official source about it, but given their past issues with email blasts, wouldn't surprise me if they screwed up the rollout here either.

I got a text followed by a phone call from Tarrant County Info. Very basic, asking if you wanted to remain on the list, be removed from the list or had already obtained the vaccine from another source.

reliabability unknown, but was a reporter for Channel 5.

I registered on the Tarrant county waitlist on Feb 2nd, got notified of my appointment Wednesday, and got my first shot (Moderna) today in Hurst. I'm 63 with no underlying issues. Is Tarrant county just getting a lot more doses? Collin county is still working through their 1a and 1b folks and they froze their waitlist a few weeks ago.

A TON of locations with available appointments on CVS's website. If you want the shot, check the boxes and go get it. Don't waste your time with a waitlist.

I think that may have been true at 5 a.m. this morning, but as of 9:15 a.m., the closest locations to Dallas were Canton and Sulphur Springs. Most of the rest were in west Texas.

They get updates all the time. People make appt and then find one closer. If you check CVS and Walmart every day at midnight or a little later you can find an appt. in a week or earlier. I have relatives living in Florida that have been signed up for months and had been checking local pharmacies for weeks. I started helping them look at CVS and Walmart and they both have first doses a mile from their houses on Sunday. There were earlier appts but the husband works ( nuclear power plant) and they wanted to go together. There were hundreds of appts in the Jacksonville and Miami areas, much like the glut of appts in West Texas.

A notification just went out in Tarrant that says they are working through their list and are scheduling from the waitlist up to January 23. Apparently the no-show rate at vaccination sites has been huge...like 50%.

It seems the county will be sending out weekly status updates to notify registrants of where they are on the waitlist and how many vaccinations they expect to administer in the coming week. This feels like a surprisingly organized effort from a county-run system.

The old phrase - The early bird gets the worm - is still true. There were appointment locations all over the state early in the morning. Look after midnight or real early in the morning. It's not that hard to get people signed up if you're willing to get up early to do so.

I understand that. I made a vaccine appointment the first day that 1B was eligible because my spreadsheet was ready. I was up early, made two hours worth of phone calls, and had appointments scheduled.

My parents were hesitant. Once they finally agreed, I was able to get their CVS appointments scheduled the first day CVS appointments went online in Texas. It took two hours starting at 6:30 a.m., but I did it.

However, there are people who see "A TON of locations with available appointments on CVS's website. ... check the boxes and go get it" and think that" they can just login to CVS any damn time on any damn day and get the shot at their local CVS. It's simply not true.

It takes persistence and luck most of the time. I've helped at least 20 people get their vaccines because they just don't understand why they can't call their PCP and get it next week. I'm super hopeful that J&J's entrance to the vaccine arena will make it much simpler. So far we haven't gotten there in Dallas, but hopefully we will be there very soon.

My daughter registered in Tarrant and Dallas. She never heard from Dallas but did get email about staying on Tarrant list last week. Then, yesterday she got an email out of the blue from Dallas with an appointment for Monday which of course she confirmed. Tomorrow she gets her first shot and I am thrilled with the dropping of precautions coming quickly. She is at the Fairpark drive through I believe. Anyone know what vaccine they use there?

I think the Dallas sites have been mostly Moderna
