4 yo daughter was exposed on Saturday at dance class (45 mins indoors, 1 room). Student or teacher came up positive yesterday, they were exposed the Friday (1 week before). Obviously will monitor for symptoms and get her tested if they appear.

What is the protocol for the rest of the family in terms of "exposure" date? 5-8 days after initial exposure but not sure when/if we even count this as "exposure" to our daughter for testing purposes.

Normally wouldn't care but was supposed to have a family member over next weekend so hoping to reduce risk of passing it to them if our daughter does have it.

Thx

Did the student or teacher show symptoms on Saturday? When was this person tested? If the student or teacher started showing symptoms yesterday and was tested same day, I'm not certain this even counts as an exposure. If it definitely counts as an exposure, then your daughter's exposure date began last Saturday.
"Your local public health authorities make the final decisions about how long quarantine should last, based on local conditions and needs. Follow the recommendations of your local public health department if you need to quarantine. Options they will consider include stopping quarantine
  • After day 10 without testing
  • After day 7 after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later)"
Your family doesn't have an exposure unless your daughter tests positive.
Good luck!

Thanks!

Unfortunately the studio is being discrete and will not provide info other than

* Person A was exposed 2/26
* They attended class 3/6 (my daughter was there)
* Was notified on 3/7 of 2/26 exposure
* Had a positive test result 3/9

No idea if they who it is, if they even had symptoms, when they appeared if they did, when the test took place, etc.

Your right that if symptoms started Tuesday then a Saturday "exposure" wouldn't really count.

Probably have to keep her out of daycare and get tested tomorrow or Friday to be safe.

We had something similar with our three year old.

We asked the pediatrician all the same questions. Their response was hunker down for a bit. Test the three year old on day seven. If positive then test the whole family. If negative than wait a day or two and just make sure no symptoms pop up and monitor if symptoms happen through about day 10 or so.

Preciate it.

How did your situation unfold?

Our Pediatrician basically said the same thing. We're going to get her tested at their office Friday (only thing they offer is rapid) which is 6 days out. I may get PCR over the weekend just to rule things out.

Hoping we get lucky and daughter never caught or brought it home.
