Least side effects, compared to MRNA and to a lesser extent Pfizer.

Only 1 shot, so no 2nd shot that gets you super sick like the other 2.

Trump endorsed the JnJ vaccine as the best in private circles.

JnJ the Best option for minorities and busy people who it may hurt the most as you don't have to schedule around 2 appointments but just 1.

If I decide to ever get the vaccine, JnJ would be the clear choice.

But it's not approved by the FDA, is it? I thought FDA/CDC shut that one down?

FDA meeting today to decide if vaccine can begin being used again.

They most likely will start opening it up again today. The blood clot thing is extremely rare. The people it effects (younger women) can decide to take the other vaccines.

Looks like it's moving forward.....

Health advisors for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have recommended resuming the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

A government advisory panel deliberated Friday on the issue after the CDC and FDA recommended a pause of the one-dose vaccine on April 13.

The recommendation, if accepted by the CDC, will effectively reinstate the use of the vaccine. The CDC generally follows its advisers' recommendations.

Think in terms of third world countries. If you want to vax billions of people, most in remote areas, which is better? One with 95% efficacy, but requires two doses and has to be stored in sub-arctic conditions? Or one with 70% efficacy but is a single dose and requires normal refrigeration?

Haha, I thought that was funny too. Well, he is the father of Operation Warp Speed.

aren't the moderna and pfizer versions way more effective at preventing COVID? like 95% vs 70%? very odd OP. who cares what trump thinks?
where do you get those numbers? made up? lol

I think those numbers are accurate. But I think the J&J is recommended more for the youngers, where even at 70% they're basically (even more) invincible to Covid.

They shut it down temporarily (most likely) while they try to determine if there's an association with blood clots. If there is, they will try to determine why that is, but even if it carries a risk of blood clots it's still safer than being unvaccinated.

Safer for who?

That's definitely not a wholesale fact

Well, maybe you don't need to know how to work a computer to sign up for JnJ. Or figure out how to get an ID.

JnJ back out there after board decision. Good news for the global end of the pandemic.

The fact that 6 blood clots out of 7 million vaccines even caused a pause if ridiculous.

I agree entirely. They were pausing to see if they could identify a common link.

With the plant issues they'd have slowed down administration anyhow.

Case count up to 15 out of 3.23M doses to women so far.

I wish they'd have just paused it for 18-49 year old women. Or at least told them hey, 1 out of every 250,000 women ages 18-49 have experienced a severe clotting issue. With other options such as moderna and pfizer, we recommend women in these age ranges sign up for those vaccines for the time being instead.

I believe it ended up being more than 6 and about 1/250k is what the average had come to, at least according to Vinay Prasad I listened to Friday.
