My wife took 2nd Moderna a week ago. Typical first couple of days - crap feeling, lethargic, sore shoulder near the shot.

The last 4 days she's had increasing pain. I chalked it up to a compensation 'injury' - avoiding certain movements that cause pain strained some other muscles.

Starting yesterday she could barely move her arm due to the pain, which was primarily the deltoid.

Today it is pain in joints of the shoulder, elbow, and wrist of the arm. It is intense enough its brought her to tears several times.

I've heard of "covid arm" but that appears to just be a rash.

Any ideas? If it is this bad tomorrow we're taking her to a dr to get an MRI.

My guess would be some lingering neuropathy. May be worth a visit to the PCP. Eliminating overuse for a while might help. Not a doctor. Or at least not the kind that can help.

Blasted - I'd hit save to edit my mispell in the title and found your reply here

Thanks for the info. She found a condition just now called "sirva" which essentially means the tech hit the bursa sac instead of the muscles, and it can take weeks to recover (surgery in severe cases).

I wouldn't worry about it, unless she only has that one arm.

Lucky for me it is her pimp hand arm, so I get that brief relief.

The official narrative is that pain, redness, and swelling at the shot site are all normal side effects of getting the shot.

It'll get better on its own. Just give it two weeks.

In all seriousness, I hope she feels better soon.

I know someone that had a prior wrist fracture a few years prior that developed pain at the fracture site after a few days (Pfizer). It got better after about 2 weeks. I know a lot of Moderna folks tend to have a delayed skin reaction after about a week.

I think jumping to an MRI so quickly is probably overkill, especially if it's now in multiple joints. Perhaps try some ibuprofen for a few days.

She could have developed Cellulitis. Can happen after receiving any type of shot. My mom got cellulitis one year after getting the flu shot.

It sounds like SIRVA...shoulder injury related to vaccine administration. This happened to me after my first injection in December. Lasted for 3 months. Agonizing pain in the shoulder and arm. Numbness in my hand and wrist. The pain has resolved for the most part. I still have some numbness and tingling. She can should report her side effects to the website they typically give you information on when you get your injection. At least then it can be tracked. I was miserable and afraid it would never end, but it has gotten better on its own.

She's better, thank you.

It has improved but she still has bad days mixed in and trouble sleeping at night because she can't get her arm in a comfortable position.
