He's really one of the more calming, rational voices out there. Even if he does have some weird ass comedy routines.

A really balanced presentation. Probably about 5 minutes too long, but hey. You have to listen to the whole thing though.

Great balanced and logical take as usual.

Thanks for sharing, have a 13 year old daughter like him, nice to have that perspective.

Sure, I can follow his argument. It makes sense. It's a risk-benefit issue.

Very tiny risk. Very tiny benefit.

I value the very tiny benefit over the very tiny risk. So does my daughter for the reasons he states at about the 10:00 mark.

We haven't lived in fear. We've followed the rules at school re: masks and distancing. We've been playing sports since June '20 and have just been smart with most things. My wife works in a moderate risk job and she got COVID and we saw how it impacted her. It sucks. The whole situation sucks. But this, too, shall pass.

My 13 yo daughter got vaccinated on Friday. Felt like garbage on Saturday. Was fine on Sunday. She hasn't grown horns or switched over to a PC instead of her Mac so I think the worst is behind us.

I don't have an issue with the choice either way. It seems to have arguments for and against. But if tweets like this are true(I have no idea of the validity of source), then I'd personally rather run the small risk of covid than force my child through this kind of pain. Especially considering many think we should be fast tracking doses to other countries right now and not even worrying about it, but that's another argument.

That looks accurate. The table of data is a bit down on the article in the 12-15 population.

Reactions and Adverse Events of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine | CDC

77.8% had "any systemic reaction"

My 16 year old son had all of those symptoms except vomiting (he was nauseous) after both shots. He felt bad for one day after the first shot and about 1/2 a day after the second.

He got the shot willingly - it was important to him for a variety of reasons. But the side effects were not enough to make me question the decision for one second. Feeling sick for a couple of days really was no big deal in the grand scheme of things.

However, I think tolerance is very individual. We all know those people (adults and kids) who are hypochondriacs and freak out over the least symptom. I have a friend who probably goes to the emergency room for something at least every other month (including a trip after her first shot - they sent her home).

If I were a parent with a kid like that, I might think twice about vaccinating (at least until they are older).

His music videos are pretty funny, but you really need to be in healthcare to fully appreciate and "get" them

How dare he use common sense. Kids have 80 years to live and we don't have long term studies but the elderly have a better chance of living their remaining years if they get the vaccine

If I had a child that was 16 I would completely leave it up to them. Mine are much younger and so far I see it as a no on the vaccine. I didn't mind getting the Moderna flu because I felt that it was worth it to virtually eliminate my chances of Covid hospitalization or death. Since my kids are such low risk as it is, I don't like the idea of purposely making them sick with the shot to avoid what would be a weak virus for them.

If things change and a new variant comes out that is messing kids up worse than now and the vaccine helps then I am all for it.

Children under 16 are not at high risk of severe COVID and are not spreaders of the virus. They do not need the vaccine. My son is almost 12 and will not be getting vaccinated before he's 16. This is coming from someone who is vaccinated and supports the idea of all adults to get vaccinated. The risk benefit math does not support vaccination of people so young.

Three of my 11 year old's friends have had Covid. One was just sick. The second one was really sick. The third one was in the ER, but her 105 fever finally broke. Those symptoms listed in that tweet a big nothingburger compared to what those three 11 year olds got. Three of my teens will be getting first shot this weekend.

Kids 12+ are pretty darn good at spreading COVID.

I know 10 kids on our sports teams that got it, all were basically asymptomatic. I can do antecdotes too. The stats don't lie with severity to young kids.
11 year olds aren't teens. Read.

The one that went to the hospital is extremely rare. 8 in 100,000 kids KNOWN to have COVID are hospitalized. I would imagine the odds are even lower since 40% of kids are asymptomatic.

My 5 and 9 year old had Covid. Only had minor fevers. The numbers are overwhelmingly in favor of Covid being harmless for children...

But I also see nothing wrong with getting your teens a shot. But what happened with your 11 year old's friend who was hospitalized is VERY rare.

I think individuals should make their own cost-benefit analysis.

However, there will always be the concern of what's best for "the public good" and we're limited to the whims of our elected officials. Like it or not, those are the rules of the game.

Don't need 'em sick.
Don't need 'em giving it to others.
Don't need to hassle with places that require it.

But seriously, those symptoms post-vax are a joke. Didn't you wonder why your babies cried after you had them vaccinated? They felt like crap. No biggie. They got better.

What symptoms post vax are a joke? A mom at my daughter's school had a stroke after J&J. She'd certainly say it was no joke.

We can all do anecdotes until we are blue in the face. It just doesn't strike me as an emergency with the way we are trending and seeing where Israel and the UK already are without 15 and under. I'd personally rather slow down on the kids here and get it elsewhere but I guess it really doesn't matter if we can't mass vax anywhere elsewhere more.

Yep - like when I was a kid and had to finish my dinner because kids were starving in China. As if they were gonna put my left-overs in a carry-out box and ship them to Xian.

Kids 12-18 don't seem to be as big of vectors at adults, and again, if the adults are protected, it doesn't really matter. As playing out elsewhere with some countries. Children alone aren't enough to cause R0 to be high enough to worry about, without the ability to spread to adults in their community.

No way I vaccinate any kids.

They don't need it. Why subject them to unknown long term side effects?

I believe in personal freedom so go ahead if you want, don't do it if you don't want to. Up to the parent.

I got vaccinated because I'm older. Kids are almost immune to covid.
