I'm in Houston and would like to get an antibody test. My husband has COVID, had it for 10 days before we knew it was COVID, and almost 2 weeks before he ended up in the hospital. I've had 3 negative COVID tests. I am wondering if I had it at some point and didn't know it. (I suffer from allergies throughout the year so if it was a mild case, I might have though it was allergies?)

Anyone know where to get an antibody test? I've looked online and all the results are for covid tests, not antibody tests.

CVS has rapid antibody testing at some locations. You can get online and find one.

Doesn't the rapid antibody testing tell you whether you actually have an active covered infection? I want to know if I've had it recovered from it.

The antibody study by uthealth is still going on. You can sign up online and do blood draw on the same day. Results within 2 days, at least that's how it worked for me.

Not sure about Houston but here in Dallas Any Lab Test Now and Sinai Urgent Care both do Covid Antibody Testing. If Houston has these you might try there.

Rapid ANTIGEN test tells you if you currently have covid. Antibody tests tells you if you have or previously have had COVID.

CVS is doing the rapid antigen test.

They absolutely are doing antibody tests. Says so here and the wife and I got tested for antibodies at one to see how long-lasting they were.

Every time I donate blood I get nauseated. Sometimes, I even vomit. Soooo, I tend to avoid that.

This is the answer on both free and likely close to you. We signed up back in late Feb.

I did this also. You do it three times at three month intervals. I did first in early February, and they texted the results the next day (negative). I did the second a couple of weeks ago (Positive; I'm sure due to vaccine because they noted their antibody test identifies antibodies from natural infection as well as from vaccine. They also texted results the following morning after the one vile blood draw.

Well, I am covid-19 positive now, so I guess it's irrelevant.

For a little while longer. Lots of blood banks have discontinued the qualitative testing, and we are only obligated through end of June with our testing facility to continue the test. More than likely we will let the contract expire as the public enthusiasm to be tested is waning and it is costly and a non reimbursesble cost as it is not a mandatory test for ID in regards to blood transfusions.

Food mood and attitude. Eat good meals leading up to donation, drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep and stay positive. It took me a couple years of donating before I finally didn't have any negative effects.

Also look into donating yellow products (platelets) instead of red. (Whole blood, red cells). Helps you jot deplete iron, sugars and you get fluid returns that help with any negative side effects.

The weird thing is that I'm not afraid of either blood or needles. I have had blood drawn more times than I can count. It seems that they can get MOST of the pint while I'm okay... then I start getting clammy. I always let them know ahead of time so they are prepared in case I need a cold compress or something to vomit into.
