This seems like a great way to push back to "normal" pre-pandemic. Props to wheels I'm surprised and kind of impressed!

No Texas mask mandate in public schools, Gov. Greg Abbott says | The Texas Tribune

-------------------------

Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order Tuesday banning government entities in Texas like cities and counties from requiring masks to fight the coronavirus pandemic. The order also says that after June 4, public schools will no longer be able to mandate masks on their campuses.

I'd rather the legislature did this but this was a necessary and appropriate move. Get masks off your kids, people.

Company issued mask removal for vaccinated people. And if you are not vaccinated and get covid you have to take sick time just like any other illness.

Well, this certainly doesn't help the narrative.

This was a necessary step to prevent schools from using masklessness as a trade-off for getting the vaccine.

of course it does. It also normalizes covid off of its pedestal.

Problem is that you might feel fine after 2 days but you could be on forced PTO for 2 weeks. I have heard of one company saying if someone on the floor gets Covid and you had contact with them they will make you quarantine for 2 weeks on PTO if you're not vaccinated. Even though the entire company has worked from home since last April. But they don't know who is vaccinated so good luck proving anything.

If we wanted to go maskless we had to verify "I, Ragoo, confirm I have completed a full vaccination regiment and am post 2 weeks from completion"

Why would you be on forced leave for 2 weeks? If you don't have the vaccine you need to be out while you are sick. Come back when you're better. You aren't a risk to non vaccinated people. The risk is in your hands.

Because sometimes logic doesn't always apply. Which is why I provided an example of a company taking it a step further and forcing people to quarantine on PTO for two weeks even if they aren't sick. It's a very transparent attempt to scare people into getting vaccinated.

Yeah, I get it and think it's a bad practice. Companies need to get out of the way now that everyone has the option to be vaccinated if they want.

At least it is paid time off rather than having to use one's sick leave or leave without pay.

Lots of companies do PTO as your vacation time. So yes it's paid time off but then you get work through December or cancel a family trip if you don't have a ton of vacation. It's manipulation and if I were still with the company doing it I would be updating my resume and applying elsewhere.

Thank you for the clarification. I now understand.

Lots of people will do what they have done for every other illness since the beginning of time. Come into work sick, pretend they are not sick, and soldier through.

Did you ever really have covid if no one knew you had it?
