Question is - why was China messing with stuff like this?
"Oops, it got out" is important but WHY it was MADE is even more critical. Those who want to keep China accountable for their behavior keep getting shouted down, though.

I won't defend China since I do believe this was an attack, but I'm confident this same stuff is happening in western countries, including the US.

There is a lot of this type of research going on around the world. The goal is to better understand how and when these viruses make the jump from animals to humans and help to predict which one will be next so we can get out ahead of it.scd88 said:

That said, it is worth a hard look to see if we really need to do this or if there are other ways to better understand the jump to humans.
You might want to also ask why NIAID was funding this research in Wuhan if you want to hold people accountable. If it turns out it escaped from the lab, some will want to hold the US accountable too.

Concentrate on China's actions after the zoonotic/lab debate. China absolutely, totally shut down domestic travel from and to Wuhan while doing nothing about international travel from and to Wuhan. That seems like an intentional act with knowledge, to impede spread of the virus within China but open up its spread to the world.

Dont forget the propaganda videos of people falling dead in the streets and apartment complexes wailing because they were "locked in". Made the disease seem way more severe than it actually was and that may have played a part in convincing governments globally to adopt their mitigation strategies.buffalo chip said:

Of course it is. That's why, imo, Fauci has been so two-faced. He's compromised, and the chi-coms know it. If we blow the whistle on them, they'll blow the cover on us.
