My wife is on day 7 and has had a rough go. She just turned 40 and has no preexisting issues. Oxygen levels are 98%. Hasn't had fever in about a day and a half and although she is still in bad shape she is starting to feel better.
Her breathing is hard and she has to take only small breaths because if she doesn't it causes her to cough everytime. Cough is constant and is not getting worse or better.

I'm worried about her breathing and would like any recommendations on treatment. She tries to do breathing exercises but

I used a spirometer when I had it. Makes you cough for a bit, but you really get some good deep breaths that work that crap out and things calm down. You don't want her breathing shallow to avoid coughing because that's how you end up going the pneumonia route.

All that said, is she seeing a doc? What have they said?
