The latest study, published in JAMA's Cardiology Journal on Tuesday, showed that 23 male soldiers (including 22 who were deemed "previously health") between the ages of 20 and 51 presented "acute onset of marked chest pain" within four days of receiving their second dose. Patients who sought care for chest pain in the military health-care system following COVID-19 vaccination and were subsequently diagnosed with clinical myocarditis were included in the case study.

so 23 / 2,810,000 = 0.00081 % ?

Probably about the same as would have if they contracted COVID.

As a male former soldier who experienced acute onset of marked chest pain (that was intermittently debilitating) during his service, they probably need to go see a chiropractor. After EKGs, cardiac ultrasound, cardiac consult, MRI, stress test, pulmonary function test, and allergy tests; the theory was that it was intercostal and exercise induced so the cardiologist wanted me to try a chiropractic adjustment. Within an hour of getting my first adjustment the pain/discomfort began subsiding and was completely gone when I got my second a few days later. It turns out people who exercise as much as I was need to be getting periodic adjustments, people just don't talk about it. And unless things have changed the DoD will cover you for 18 adjustments in a calendar year.

"In a presentation last week by the CDC's vaccine advisory panel, officials said the rate of developing myocarditis was 12.6 per 1 million people vaccinated."

"As of June 11, the Defense Department had 30 cases of myocarditis among vaccinated beneficiaries, out of 4.1 million vaccines administered."

This all goes back to whether the lipid nano particles or the spike proteins (or both) make its way into the blood stream. People like to claim that it doesn't, and it's certainly not designed to, but based on the data it clearly does, albeit a small percentage. Still, have to wonder if it's worth it for a young healthy person.

And at an observed risk of 12.6 per 1 million I have to wonder if worrying about this is worth it for young people.

Is the risk of COVID worth worrying about for young people?

I'm not advising the vaccine for my 12-18 year old healthy patients at this time. There are > 800 cases of myocarditis at this time linked to the timing of vaccine. Myocarditis is NOT common I literally have never seen a case in practice.

Even though the risk is still small, so is the risk of death or hospitalization from COVID in this population.

There was a study done using a very sensitive assay to detect spike protein.

You can compare the same team looking at levels in people who are sick

Seems like the vaccines are doing what people expected, and the circulating levels are comparable to actually getting infected with the obvious benefits of not having a virus replicating loose in your body. One conclusion is - whatever risk tiny amounts of circulating spike may pose to the heart or other organs, it I would seem to be certainly less than the risk of the same from actual infection.
