Welp, what are the odds I have it versus a cold or allergies?

Fully vaccinated with Pfizer. Woke up yesterday morning a sore throat nasal congestion and an occasional cough and sneeze. This morning no sore throat, low grade fever (100.5). Still have congestion, chills, headache, and cough.

Your symptoms are worse and different than I experienced. All I had was loss of sense of smell (7 days), fatigue (4 days), and 1 degree fever (1 day).

No cough, no sneezing, no congestion, no runny nose, no headache.

Do you normally run a fever with allergies?

No, I hardly ever run a fever.

Go get tested to be sure, but it is likely allergies or RSV like everyone else lately

Honestly this does sound like covid symptoms, especially with the chills, fever, and cough. I have bad allergies and never get those symptoms from allergies.

Probably RSV, it is running rampant through the littles.

Not sure if it's RSV or not but all three of my kiddos (7 yo, 10, and 12) got similar symptoms. All negative forcovid ditto for many of their friends.

Our pediatrician said several of the usual viral suspects cruising through the kids around here.

Sneezing means no Covid!

At least that is what CDC says! LOL

Yeah, it's weird for this time of year. Seen a decent amount of croup.

Our kiddo had RSV and passed it to both the wife and I. Pretty similar to OP, but we never had a fever.

Yea, to give an idea of the prevalence of RSV, we were supposed to get together for the 4th with 2 other families from drastically different parts of houston but had to cancel because 7 of the 9 kids came down with RSV the week leading up to it.

CDC WARNING: Southern states see spike in RSV cases, including Texas (kbtx.com)

More dangerous to children than Covid, right? Not trying to scare anyone, both insanely low.

Sounds like some other virus; my kids and wife had something similar that they caught from their cousins a few weeks ago none tested positive for covid

Was just some other virus spreading through the little kids

Read somewhere that those types of viruses are showing up at higher than normal rates for this time of year due to masking etcsuppressing the kids immune systems

Not a doc, but remember having this conversation with our pediatrician many years ago. My nephew spent a week in Children's when he was 3 months old with RSV, too.

"RSV can cause severe infection in some people, including babies 12 months and younger (infants), especially premature infants, older adults, people with heart and lung disease, or anyone with a weak immune system (immunocompromised)." Mayo Clinic- RSV

My oldest had RSV when she was a baby (I am blanking on the age but certainly less than a year old). My wife was on a work trip and I took her to our pediatrician thinking she had a cold.

I can honestly say I had never even heard of RSV. My daughter ended up getting pretty sick from it but didn't require a hospital stay. Pediatrician did a great job walking a noob dad who was completely terrified through things like nebulizer treatments and the like.

Our pediatrician had done a bunch of work in the favelas in and around Rio and talked about how deadly it could be if left un treated. Said it would roll through the poorer neighborhoods. She was always baffled that it didn't get more attention than it did.

Update: I've been tested for Corona. Like y'all I don't think that's it but I made an appointment for an urgent care clinic first thing in the morning since it won't be until like Friday when I can get in with my regular physician.

Exact same scenario for me (though J&J vaccine). Tested + Thursday. Frustrating as one who had the vaccine and avoided it for so long. Hope you get better news.

I tested negative for Covid, but Doc did suspect RSV.

Everyone in my house has had RSV in the last two weeks. My 6 week old nephew spent two days in the ICU with it last week. It is definitely spreading through the community.
