My mom is currently waiting for approval for transfer from critical care in Plano to an LTAC in Texarkana which is the closest facility to where she lives. She was admitted to the CCU back in May for ECMO, and after 58 days of treatment she's ready to move on to the next phase in her recovery. She was cleared for release by the CCU physician on Sunday, and the coordination between the current hospital, the LTAC, and insurance hasn't been the best.

Is there anyone on this board that either works for BCBSTX or has some tips for expediting approval so we can get her closer to her friends and family ASAP.

For the plan I am a part of, BCBSTX has made some changes to their customer service model. You can speak to someone who is essentially an advocate on their end to help facilitate things.

Things may be a little different if your mother is on manager medicare vs traditional insurance.

Apparently the place we wanted to send her is out of network, and now we're looking at Shreveport.
