Thanks everyone. Edited this post after your replies to take out some possibly identifying info. We know real life people on here.

Hello, all. Longtime lurker. I've tried posting this 2 other times, but the page keeps refreshing and I lose it. So I'll give the shorter version and then edit / update to give more info and can respond to questions and comments later. I'll just say what you all are thinking- were you vaccinated? Short answer, no, but more to it. We are NOT COViD deniers or Trump lovers (but are conservatives). We wore masks, socially distanced, avoided indoor places besides errands and school, etc... We had hoped it was mostly over, but with this new variant spreading like wildfire and school starting soon without safety measures, we decided to get the vaccine now. We were going today, but Covid found us first. I think it started with one of my teen sons since he had the first symptoms. We just recently went back to in person church and he participated in community service projects this week. I have no way to prove that's where he got it, but since we avoid indoor gatherings outside of close family except church, this seems the most logical.

Anyway, my questions. So far 1 son and myself have tested positive on Saturday. We quarantined from the rest, but spouse is now feeling poorly. I figure it's just a matter of time for all of us. I have a good friend who also tested positive this week and he told me his doctor gave them Z pack, ivermectin, and HCQ and they started greatly improving within 24-36 hours. Unfortunately, I just found out his doctor is on vacation this week. I have been following the vitamin regimen posted here for at least the last 6-8 months (except NAC and Quercetin which I could never find) and when I got the positive, I took the super dose of Vitamin D and upped my zinc and started drinking green tea. My friend's doctor also recommends much higher vitamin C amounts when sick (5,000iu), but the most that I've taken is 3,000iu/ day right now. Advice? My sister who is half vaccinated and was going to get her 2nd dose this week also got it- although I'm not sure it was from us.

Son seems to be doing fine. Mild fever (topped out at 100.4 and now just 99.4 ish), scratchy throat, O2 staying around 98%.

I'm late 40s, a little overweight (but far from obese), and generally healthy. (edit)
My fever has topped out at 102 the first 2 days and yesterday at 101.4. O2 has varied, but stays generally between 96-98. I have a wet cough and soreness. Chest is somewhat tight, but not too different from stuff I feel with GERD sometimes.
I'd love advice from doctors especially on if I should keep pursuing alternative measures. Urgent care doctor said he doesn't prescribe anything besides vitamins.. If so, I'm in the Houston area- any leads on doctors who prescribe other things and if they will treat an unestablished patient?

I'm more worried about my husband- 50s with high BP... (edit)

Other 2 kids seem fine for now.

Thanks in advance. Real advice appreciated. Yes, I know we messed up by not doing it sooner- especially husband. Can't change that now.

hope you guys get better soon! I feel like docs not responding quite as much as in the past (not a complaint just what I have noticed). I would consider shooting Reveille or another doc a PM

Also, see if monoclonal antibody therapy is available to you, especially if symptoms get worse.
Please tell me there's a special place in Heaven for Aggie fans! It's like we are living some sort of penance on Earth.

You can setup a televisit with me tomorrow if you want. Go to my website and fill out paperwork and consents to speed up the process.

www.drcoates.net

In the meantime go to my Facebook posts and get the supplements. Quercetin can be purchased on Amazon or use green tea as it also a zinc ionopher.

We found Quercetin on Amazon. If you have Prime, you can get it by Wednesday.

We took all of Rev's supplements, and used a pulse oximeter to ensure our oxygen saturation was good. I kept a log of my symptoms and I had a low-grade fever for 8 days. That was the worst part. At the time, there were reports of ibuprofen being bad to take with Covid, so I used Tylenol exclusively. Tylenol doesn't work as well for me, so that was a drag. I liken Covid to mono in the sense that I'd feel good for a while, and then I'd hit a wall of exhaustion. The "pop-up" exhaustion lasted about a week after the fever stopped. I did lose taste and smell about a week in, but it came back within a week.

When we (the whole house tested positive) had it (over Christmas) it seemed that if you had Covid, you just endured it at home unless you needed to go to the hospital. for lung-function issues...hence the pulse ox monitoring. We didn't even call our doctor until after the new year and then my husband did a tele-visit. Our doctor said it seemed like we were over it, but had we called earlier, he would have prescribed Ivermectin.

On the tail end of the illness, we took baby aspirin in an effort to avoid clotting issues. This was included in Rev's advice. I really credit Dr. Rev with his supplement list as we started that around October 2020 and I believe it helped us.

Regarding the kids - they all tested positive, but had symptoms for only a day.

Thank you everyone for your helpful responses. I'm grateful, but shocked that I didn't get any snark. ;-)
My husband is now down for the count so I'm assuming that's 3 of us now. I've been doing Reveille's protocol (except NAC and Quercetin) since at least Christmas, but husband just started yesterday. I do have Prime, but have always been leery of buying meds from there. Any reliable sellers that you'd recommend?

Reveille/ Dr. Coates, thank you so much! I knew you did telemed for out of towners early on, but I wasn't sure if you still did. I got a message from our PCP's practice so I'll check with them first, but I may take you up on the offer.

I've just had to turn off the news and stop reading the stories since getting my positive. From the way the news is broadcasting now, we'd all be facing hospitalization and certain death. I have a tendency to worry about health stuff so shutting it off has been good and given me peace. I'm just reading and researching treatment ideas only now.

Thanks again everyone!

I had mono my junior year of high school and it kicked my butt so I know what you are describing. I think it was a good 18 months before I felt completely myself again. I hope this doesn't happen again.

As far as pursuing more, that's the problem. I'm not sure how "progressive" I should be vs riding it out. My friend swears by all that and I just don't want to make the wrong decision and regret that I didn't do more. I'm especially worried about husband since he has more risk, I think. It's hard to tell how bad he really feels since all he wants to do is take nyquil and sleep when he's sick. (He has not taken nyquil today as I'm not sure what is safe with Covid.)

Rosie- I most likely will, but I did hear from our very busy PCP office so I thought I'd call them first. Not sure what their protocol is though as they are MD as opposed to DO. Just curious, does anybody here know what Reveille usually advises? My husband asked. He's not on TexAgs so has no true idea how much Reveille has invested here.

****Edit to CLARIFY : The above comment was not a negative about DO at all. I have seen several DO's over the years. One of my best friends from high school (who we've sadly lost touch or I'd call her) is a DO. It was meant more in thought that DO usually have a more holistic approach and will be more likely to prescribe these non approved therapies.

Get Ivermectin & doxycycline which is good for most and I would highly recommend monoclonal antibody infusions if you have significant risk factors for severe disease. (Obesity/Heart Disease/Diabetes)
Discuss those options with your physician. You can google monoclonal antibody infusions near you and find the closest location.

I second what Dr Rev said above. I take all his supplements and get them off Amazon.
I got my second Moderna shot in late Feb. I do continue to take a prophylactic dose of ivermectin every 2 weeks. Just in case a vaccine resistant variant pops up. I'm 75 and have a history of asthma.

If I had it to do all over again, I'd contact my doctor (and I wouldn't hesitate to make an appointment with Dr. Rev). It seems "we" are in a much better place with treatment options than we were even 8 months ago, so there is no need to "suffer" with it if we can lessen the time with symptoms.

Regarding Quercetin brands - we used NatureBell. I did no research into this brand. I have a sister-in-law who is concerned with researching brands of vitamins and supplements to ensure which ones have what they say they have, but that has not been a concern of mine at this point in my life...not high enough on my priority list.

DO vs. MD would not matter to me at all. Our PCP is an MD, but the thing we appreciate the most about him is that he appears to stay abreast of current information and that he treats us as partners in our health care. That is a dedication and personality thing and not a "where he went to medical school" thing.

Thank you for your reply, I did want to clarify one thing. I have NO concern about DO at all and have used several in the past. My comment was meant in the light that they are more likely to prescribe alternative treatments than MD since often their approach is more holistic. It was meant as a positive saying that I'm not sure my doctor's office would prescribe these alternative treatments discussed here since they aren't DO.

Reveille - Thank you very much for your advice. I did call your office this morning and left a message and I'm printing out your paperwork. I also called my doctor's office back. The earliest appointment with them which I took for now is tomorrow morning. Do you think it's okay to wait one more day and talk to her since you are recommending the antibodies that I'd have to get locally?( I'm on day 5 of symptoms and my O2 is steady at 96-98, but my cough (wet) has picked up. Overall, it feels very flu like.) Otherwise, I'd greatly appreciate being seen today by you. I'm honestly more worried about my husband. His O2 is a little lower and he's just on day 2 of symptoms. I really appreciate all your help and time.

Next Level Urgent Care in Houston is doing the IV Antibody Infusion procedure. My wife and I did it yesterday (the San Felipe location). They have said they are getting great results with this.

The chances that your doctor will prescribe Ivermectin (If thats what youre looking for) to you are very low. I would just wait and see Reveille or call order ivermectin online at push health.

You want to do the monoclonal antibody ASAP. It's only effective within the first few days of testing positive. Get on the phone and schedule an appt now to get it. If you delay and don't get it, then you won't be able to get it at all.

Do you need a prescription or doctor's order to schedule it? I assume you would. Also, do you mind me asking if it's covered by insurance? If not, what was the cost? Thanks.

I was in a trial study and didn't pay anything. If you were a relative/friend I would tell you that your life is worth more than the cost of the infusion if you need to pay for it. You can't get it later if things get worse. But it's been proven to be highly successful in reducing really bad cases where people die.

Thanks, everyone! I had my telemedicine appointment with Dr. Coates this afternoon. He was very kind and helpful! He put me on ivermectin and doxycycline as stated above and told me to look into the monoclonal antibodies.
(Edit to update this part) : I found out it's fairly easy to qualify so I will be going tomorrow to get it done.
