This is a quote from the article "Moderna seeks vaccine approval" in today's Eagle, about COVID shots for kids under 5. "Already about three-quarters of children of all ages show signs they've been infected at some point during the pandemic." No source/reference is given, of course, but is Lauran Neergaard of AP saying 75% of all U.S. children have had COVID? Am I misunderstanding this quote, or if not, can anyone explain the source of this information?

I heard the same thing from a different report.

I'm not sure why we would vaccinate a population of people if they already had a disease

And face virtually no risk from the disease in the first place, and getting vaccinated doesn't stop future spread anyway

If the number is that high (and I think it's higher honestly), to me, it shows that vaccinations just are not needed for the vast majority of kids. It would be more important for kids to get a flu shot. Covid just doesn't represent a significant risk to children for hospitalization or death.

Agreed. I know for a while in January nearly every ill child was COVID, and they were not very sick.
