New Orleans Under Armour Thread
I am headed out to the Under Armour Camp in New Orleans this morning. Texas A&M commitment Major Burns and major target Joel Williams will both be in attendance. As I mentioned yesterday, Houma (LA) Terrebonne 2021 DT Maason Smith will also be putting in work. He already holds an offer from the Aggies and he was the defensive line MVP of last week's Opening Regional in New Orleans.Dallas will be represented by Skyline 2021 standout WR Quaydarius Davis, and I hear Garland Lakeview Centennial 2021 RB Camar Wheaton will be watching. Oh and Mansfield Lake Ridge WR Tameron "Turbo" Derrough is expected. He is short but I look for him to light up this camp. Houma (LA) Terrebonne's Ja'Khi Douglas will also keep defenders on their toes.Other prospect of interest to Texas A&M fans (these guys all hold A&M offers)RB Ashaad Clayton, New Orleans (LA) Warren EastonWR Reginald Johnson, Baton Rouge (LA) Southern LabWR Theodore Knox, Baton Rouge (LA) Southern Lab - 2021DT Kenean Caldwell, Oak Grove (LA)LB Bryson Eason, Memphis (TN) WhitehavenS Kaine Williams, Marerro (LA) John Ehret - 2021LSU has a junior day, but commitments Kris Draine of Spanish Fort (AL), Kayshon Boutte, and CamRon Jackson are expected to be in attendance. News, notes, and some quick takes from the Opening Regional in Dallas
Big Impressions- Tommy Brockermeyer was again a standout performer. He has been very good at every stop and the 2021 OL from Fort Worth All Saints has made a strong case as a top five player in the 2021 class. He has been special at the Next Level Athlete Camp, Under Armour, and now the Opening Regional.-It was great to see Drew Sanders work at LB. It was not all crisp and clean, but it was easy to see he is dripping with athleticism. His lateral quickness and change of direction were unmatched plus he's big enough to take on and cover TEs down the field. It also sounds like he's coming around the idea of playing LB on the next level which could lead to good things for the Aggies.-Highland Park QB Chandler Morris was on his game today. He put the ball on the money time after time. He is not the biggest but he was accurate and showed plenty of arm. He took home QB MVP honors and there was no doubt he had the best day of any QB in the bunch.- Jalen Kimber blew the testing out of the water. He won the fastest man contest with a 4.43, he had a 4.0 shuttle, and he had a 40-inch vertical. He was pretty solid in one-on-ones, but man, he was different animal during testing. He also checked in at 6-foot, 170.Recruiting notesDenton Braswell 2021 OL Erick Cade has been high on the Aggies, but he was a big Jim Turner fan and he was sad to see him go. Texas seems to have capitalized on that a bit and Herb Hand is a guy he has really gotten close to. He has not gotten to know coach Henson yet, but I look for that to change. The Aggies remain high on his list, but I would give the edge to Texas right now.Oak Grove (LA) 2020 DT Kenean Caldwell talked very highly of his relationship with coach Peveto and coach Robinson. He plans to visit TCU and Texas A&M soon. He camped in College Station last summer.Hebron 2020 S Darius Snow recently narrowed his list to 13 and the Aggies made the cut. He is working towards a top five, and one school he said he hopes to visit this spring is Texas A&M. He wants to take at least one official visit this spring, but he has not decided where that will be.Duncanville 2020 ATH Ja'Quinden Jackson worked at QB today. He's hoping to schedule some visits in the near future. Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M are showing the most interest and said he texts with them daily. Coach Linguist is leading the Aggies efforts and he mentioned that his confidence stands out. Jesuit 2020 ATH EJ Smith spoke with coach Fisher the other day and he likes the Aggies' style of play. He is playing his cards close to the vest, but the Aggies are one school he talks of highly.Mansfield Timberview CB Jalen Kimber just returned from Texas and most of the buzz surrounding him today had to do with Texas and Notre Dame. He also mentioned Missouri, TCU, Arkansas, and Texas A&M as schools he is closely looking into. Coach Linguist remains in contact for the Aggies. Right now he has plans to visit Arkansas, Notre Dame and Alabama, and he just returned from a visit to Texas.Thoughts on some key prospects-Little Elm 2020 CB Ryan Watts - Very physical. When he pressed, good luck to the WR. Watts also measure in at 6-3, 185 and had a 38-inch vertical. He will visit Texas A&M towards the end of this week.-Lancaster 2020 CB Lorando Johnson speaking of physical he has always been one of the more physical DBs out there and today was more of the same.-Denton Braswell 2021 OL Erick Cade It was an ok day. He passes the eye ball test and he is a big athlete, but he is on the raw side. His hands are absolutely huge.-Jesuit 2020 ATH EJ Smith Great day. He was one of the best WRs out there. Cat quick, and explosive. He showed some great hands throughout the day.A couple of prospects to watch-Frisco Reedy 2020 OL Nathan Anderson also had a very strong day. He checked in at 6-5, 260, and he clocked a 4.2 shuttle. He won most of his reps and he was another one who had a big day last weekend. He's one of the more athletic OL in the 2020 class, bends well, and he has a strong punch. Keep an eye on this guy. He's on the Texas A&M's radar and he has a good relationship with coach Henson. DeSoto 2021 DT Byron Murphy II jumped out to me as the top DL today. He is on the shortside but he is quick and explosive. He's an athletic three and he gave offensive linemen fits all day. His go to move, a spin move, was on point today, and often deployed.

Recruiting recap from the Opening Regional in Dallas
Ok so there was a lot, so let's not waste any timeFort Bend Bush DB Erick Young was one of the top A&M targets in attendance at the Opening Regional in Dallas. He was in Dallas because he was nursing an injury and could not compete at the Houston Regional. He recently took his official visit to A&M and both his mom and him were very impressed. The word that keeps coming up with Young is "need" As in the Aggies told me they really need me there. It's not about a want, but a need and it sounds like that message has resonated well with the Houston-area DB. He continues to take his time, and he would like to visit Ohio State, Alabama, and Oklahoma before trimming his list further and eventually naming his college choice. He plans to announce a final three the day before announcing his college decision. Another big time DB A&M fans are highly interested in is Jeffery Carter. The DB was one of the fastest guys in the entire camp and clocked a 4.3 forty. He finished second to Daxton Hill in the fastest man race. The Aggies recently made his top 6 and he said he likes to keep everyone guessing. He would like to take some more visits before making an announcement. He took his official visit to A&M the April 14 weekend and really got to know Debione Renfro well. He was visited at Aledo last week by coach Linguist and coach Elko and he has developed a great bond with both. Sticking with the DBs, Texas went by Waxahachie last week to see Texas A&M commit Demani Richardson, and they are working really really hard to get him to Austin on a visit. I'm not going to say it will not happen because this is recruiting, but currently he remains locked in on his commitment with the Aggies. He and his family are actively communicating with the A&M coaching staff and they had a great time on the official visit a few weeks ago. I continue to hear good things about the Aggies' efforts with Southlake Carroll 2020 RJ Mickens. He likes what he sees in coach Linguist and coach Elko and he is keeping a close eye on things in College Station. On the defensive line, Lucedale (MS) George County DT McKinnley Jackson competed in Dallas fresh off an unofficial visit to Texas A&M. The former LSU commit saw his eyes opened by the trip to College Station. Coach Elijah Robinson's ability to develop DTs definitely caught his attention, and he also talked fishing with coach Fisher. This summer will be a busy one with several trips in the works from coast-to-coast. One guy I was not able to catch up with yesterday was Ishmael Sopsher. The Amite (LA) DT was an absolute stud on the day and he too recently visited College Station. The feeling I got from talking to different people was LSU and Alabama are going to be really tough to top in this one. The recruitment of his brother Rodney Sopsher could make things interesting. Mississippi State commit and Jackson (MS) Provine DE De'Monte Russell says he plans to visit A&M this summer but he doesn't have anything scheduled. He also plans to visit Oregon, Florida, and maybe Ole Miss. Alexandria (LA) 2020 DT Jacobian Guillory recently visited A&M and LSU and he plans to return to both for camps. He loved the weight room at A&M and he kept a close eye on Daylon Mack during the spring game. He checked in at 330 and he's trying to get down to 315. Coach Peveto has been leading the Aggies efforts for Oak Grove (LA) DT Kenean Caldwell. Caldwell knows him from going to camps at both LSU and Ole Miss and the two have a good bond. On the offensive line Camden (AR) Fairview offensive tackle Stacey Wilkins had one of the more impressive days on the field. He is one long dude and light on his feet with a solid base to build on. It is easy to see why so many are all over him. He had the best day I've seen him have and I have seen him at the Army Combine and the Under Armour Camp in the last four months. He still says he plans to take an unofficial. He is coming off unofficial visits to OU and Alabama, and he has official visits planned to Texas (May 5), Arkansas (June 13), and USC (June 22). He plans to take unofficials to Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Georgia. Coach Turner's ability to develop NFL OLs has not been lost on him, he definitely notices that and it's a positive. Wilkins did not say it but there is a lot of Oklahoma smoke on this one and Arkansas is definitely going to be in the fight until the end. I don't see this one going the way of the Aggies. Crandall OL Branson Bragg said he really enjoyed his last trip to A&M and gave me a lot of good stuff about sitting down with coach Turner. However, he did say Texas made a big push up his list after his most recent visit. He didn't say they were his leader but I'd put them at the top right now. At receiver Fort Worth Southwest's Nnamdi Adim-Madumere said he remains high on the Aggies. He has been busy taking a few visits recently. He was able to check out A&M, Minnesota, and Baylor. He is currently narrowing in on some favorites. The Aggies remain at the top of his list. He also mentioned Baylor and Minnesota as schools he is watching closely. Aledo 2020 RB Jase McClellan said he's still strong in his commitment to OU but he is very interested in A&M. The Aggies did go by last week and he plans to visit in May. He also mentioned Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, and Georgia as schools he has also had contact with. Mesquite Poteet 2020 RB Seth McGowan is also keeping in touch with the Aggies more. He caught up with coach Linguist last week and he plans to keep in touch with him on a regular basis. On the 2019 RB/FB/H-back front keep Fort Worth Nolan Catholic standout Chance Cover's name on your radar. He checked in at 6-3, 228 yesterday and he is seeing a lot of interest on the offensive side of the ball. A&M recently checked in with him and is eyeing him as a possible H-back target. At QB, Weatherford 2020 QB Ken Seals saw A&M came by the school last week and he plans to camp at A&M. It looks like communication is picking up there. Another 2020 to watch is Grapevine Faith's Deuce Hogan. He has family ties to A&M and is looking at camping this summer.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
