Powell is so athletic but at times he does not run away from people on film especially when he made his move from a TAPPS school Midland Christian to Odessa Permian, a 6A school. I think the move ended up being great for him but it also showed some getting used to. I do not see him as a quarterback. His throwing motion is inconsistent and he throws off his back foot too much for my liking. I don’t think his passing ability is there for the next level. So a weakness for him is that he is position less at this point. He has played quarterback for the majority of his life and now he has to learn a completely new position whether it is receiver or defensive back. That will take some time.
How I see him fitting in at Baylor
I see him as a versatile athlete his first year on campus. He will get a shot at quarterback but I hope he moves to receiver or defensive back soon so he can start learning. I think he gets on the field some at receiver this year and then next year makes a transition to defense if he is ok with it. If not then he will stay at receiver which would not be the worst thing even though I think his highest ceiling position is in the secondary. His best position is at corner in my opinion until I see him tackle somebody.

With his athleticism and offers to go along with his production he should be the highest rated player in the class. But the fact that I don’t think he is a quarterback which means he does not have a defined position is where his rating takes a little drop. It will take time for him to get used to a different position especially if it is on the defensive side.
