Recruiting update - coaches hit the road and more
As expected, the A&M coaching staff hit the road with fervor today as the focus has turned to recruiting as we head into summer. Here's what we've been able to pick up from a few sources about a few expected stops...- Gruver (TE) Jalin Conyers will get a visit from Joe Jon Finley this week. The Aggies will likely push to get the Panhandle prospect into College Station for a visit later this spring or in the early summer. Conyers went to Austin for the Longhorns' spring game. - Defensive ends Coach Terry Price will hit Mississippi this week. He'll check in on the junior college conference out there as well as stop in to see Lucedals (MS) standout McKinnley Jackson. Today, I was told to expect A&M to be in the final group of schools for Jackson. We haven't heard much on McKinnley since the calendar turned to 2019, but it sounds like the Aggie coaches have been working all they can. A source told me today that Jackson will visit A&M this summer. Other top contenders are Clemson, Alabama, and LSU. - It sounds like Mesquite Poteet RB Seth McGowan is starting to finalize his visit schedule. According to a Dallas are source, A&M will get their official in May or June and are likely the only in-state program to get an OV. Georgia, USC, and Oklahoma will also get officials from what I know. - A&M DC Mike Elko was in the Metroplex today to check in on a handful of players. Denton Ryan ATH Drew Sanders and Little Elm CB Ryan Watts are two Oklahoma commits that Elko checked in on. As we reported last week, he was also in to see rising DB Christian Gonzalez out of The Colony. Tomorrow, a coach in the Hill Country tells me the Aggie DC will see Alfred Collins, Princely Umanmielen, and commit Jaylon Jones. - New 2021 OL offer out to 6-4, 270 pound Saguaro (AZ) OL Bram Walden. That's Christian Kirk's alma mater and one of the premier programs out in the desert. He's also got offers from Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma St, BYU, and Arizona State.
