Friday Recruiting Notes
Alright so I have a few notes to send you guys into the weekend.LB Riley Pettijohn, McKinney - The Aggies get the last visit so there is hope, and Jay Bateman gives the Aggies a fighting chance. He was most recently in College Station the weekend before the spring game (April 13) and by all accounts the visit went well and was productive. The family really like Elko. However, the word I hear out on the streets in DFW is the Aggies still have ground to cover with the Longhorns remaining the favorites in his recruitment. He has a lot of relationships and the Horns moving to the SEC is a positive. Based on what I'm hearing I would put the Aggies about third or fourth among his top five, but as I mentioned the Aggies do have a fighting chance with Bateman leading the way and the final visit. Pettijohn plans to make a preseason decision once he takes all of his official visits.LB Noah Mikhail, La Verne (CA) Bonita - The most recent visit was a really good one for Texas A&M momentum. He spent multiple days in town and his family was with him. Oregon and USC are the main competition, but as we have been saying do not count out the Aggies. Bateman and Co are getting a serious look and they will get the final official the weekend of Jun 21.LB Mason Posa, Albuquerque (NM) La Cueva - We have made no bones about it, Posa is one of the top priorities at LB and the Aggies appear to be in a strong position. He is scheduled to take his OV the June 21 weekend. Oklahoma State hosted him for his first OV the weekend of April 13 and he took an OV to Arizona last weekend (April 20). He also has OVs scheduled to Wisconsin (May 31), Oregon (June 7), Texas Tech (June 14), and Texas A&M (June 21), and he is looking at a summer time commitmentWhen it comes to the LB recruiting I am starting to feel more and more like this is likely to be a two-man LB class with one of the above joining Kelvion Riggins. I feel best about the Aggies chances with Mikhail and Posa. I could also see a scenario where the Aggies take a three-man group with one those three being a best available type of guy so let's say 2-3.On the offensive line front it is going to be interesting to see how it all works out in the end. The Aggies have been very active and now have a four-man class. They also have their eye on very big targets in Michael Fasusi, Ty Haywood, Lamont Rogers, and Andrew Babalola, and Emeka Ugorji and Tyler Thomas are also OT prospects I could see finding a fit at A&M. Six seems like a good number. I like the Aggies chances to land one from Fasusi, Haywood, Rogers, and Babalola. Two could be a possibility but that is going to be quite the feat to say the least. If you want another out of state prospect to watch, I am starting to like what I'm hearing more and more in regards to Texas A&M's chances with Phoenix (AZ) Desert Edge cornerback Jamar Beal-Goines. The 6-foot, 175-pound standout is equipped with elite track speed and DB coach Jordan Peterson has been hot on his trail since Peterson was at Kansas. He visited spring practice April 13 and afterward he knew he would return for an OV. This week I made a few stops and I have a few new prospects on my radar. Put Forney 2027 OT Mason Joshua on your list. 6-4.5, 240, lean with a huge frame and as he adds strength he is going to bulk up nicely. He worked at right tackle when I dropped by and while he was raw, his size and feet were easy to spot. He also competes in track and field. He claimed the district title in discus with a 142-8, and he finished fourth in district in the shot with a personal record of 42-3.Forney OT Mason Joshua (6-4.5, 240) is just a freshman and I have a feeling he’s gonna turn some heads moving like this@ForneyRecruits | @CoachFleen | @TA_Recruiting pic.twitter.com/fUK2PXF0UG— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) April 23, 2024 In addition to Joshua the Jackrabbits also have 2027 OL Jordan Carraway who finished third in district in the shot with a personal record of 43-8.75. He checks in at 6-5, 290 and he already holds offers from UNT, Pitt, SMU, and Texas Tech, and he visited Texas A&M for the spring game.Throw Frisco Lone Star 2027 CB Bryant Robinson on your list too. He checks in at a long 6-3, 175 and he is a fluid athlete with a quick change of direction. He also a basketball standout but the word I get is football is his future and he is aware of that. Look for him to jump right in and be a big part of Lone Star's defense next fall if not a full-time starter.Frisco Lone Star 2027 CB Bryant Robinson @ybk_b32 | @LSHSRangers | @LSHS_FBRecruits pic.twitter.com/YFUgRHJVzH— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) April 23, 2024 A 2026 to keep an eye on is Prosper (TX) 2026 OT Bryce Gilmore. He checks in at 6-5, 275 and he has received offers from Duke, Grambling, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Pitt, Purdue, Texas Tech, Toledo, UNT, and UTSA, and more are sure to arrive this spring as college coaches get a good look at him. He worked at RT when I was there on Monday and he comes from a long line of athletes. His father Bryan Gilmore was a receiver in the NFL for several years, and Bryce is emerging as another high end OT prospect out of Prosper. He brings a strong work ethic, a nasty edge, and lot of athleticism in the trenches. -Commits Kelvion Riggins and Deondrae Riden are doing their best to recruit the heck out of some strong talents. Both mentioned Michael Fasusi, Kaliq Lockett, Noah Mikhail, and Jonah Williams as key targets from the spring game.-I do not want to get too optimistic about Fasusi just yet, but the Aggies have really done some great work this spring. Getting him on campus three times was very big and as he said in my update he is feeling more and more comfortable. Joe Hamilton is also doing some real work here. -I also made sure to keep an eye on Sean Hutton while I was out at Lewisville. The Aggies and Sooners recently offered him a PWO and I love it. He has been a varsity starter since his freshman year and has played everywhere up and down the line. His height - he is about 6-1, 6-2 - is going to keeping the top programs from offering but he has an edge, he is very smart, and he has played many positions on one of the top offensive lines in Texas. -I didn't get to see Bryson Jones while I was at Lone Star. He was at an appointment so him and Davian Groce both missed the workout. I am hearing Groce has his sights set on WR at the college level. Jones is a guy the Aggies offered and he has an OV scheduled, but he was not able to visit this spring. If he makes it to campus, I could see him emerging as a top target at the WR position.-The Aggies seem to be in a really good spot for Lone Star 2026s Ryder Mix (TE) and Jordan Deck (S). Neither named the Aggies their leader or anything but the interest is definitely there and they had some very positive things to say. Deck could not hide his excitement. Go listen to the interview if you haven't already. -It is safe to say the Aggies are a real player for Forney (TX) 2026 RB Javian Osborne. The visit to A&M a few weeks ago really opened his eyes and coach Trooper Taylor made an extremely strong impression. They really hit it off well. His father did not make the trip with him, but I bet that changes before too long. They already have plans to return for the A&M-Notre Dame game this fall, but I would not be surprised if a visit happened sooner.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
