Navy Bowl All-American Primer, Notes, and Thoughts
Later today I will be making my way to San Antonio for the Navy All-American Bowl. Like the Under Armour Bowl last week, the Aggies are well represented with six signees/commitments in the game.Signees/Commitments East4 WR Aaron Gregory, Douglasville (GA) Douglas County - 2026 signee12 EDG Tristian Givens, Columbus (GA) Carver - 2026 signeeWest81 WR Jayden Warren, Rosharon (TX) Iowa Colony - 2026 signee7 WR Madden Williams, Bellflower (CA) St. John Bosco - 2026 signee13 CB Hakim Frampton, San Antonio (TX) Brandeis - 2027 commitment1 CB Brandon Arrington, Spring Valley (CA) Mount Miguel - 2026 signeeAll the signees playing in the game are early enrollees, and Warren, Williams, Givens, and Gregory are already moved in at Texas A&M. As a two-way standout, he is committed to Texas A&M as a corner, but he will be in San Antonio as a receiver.Aaron Gregory is a finalist for the Navy Bowl Offensive Player of the Year along with QB Briggs Cherry (Louisville), WR Jordan Clay (Washington), RB Ezavier Crowell (Alabama), and RB John Hebert (Houston)Game info: Televised live on NBC on Saturday, January 10, at noon CT, and it will be played in the Alamodome in San Antonio. Some Top 2027 TargetsEast2 Nick Lennear, Miami (FL) Northwestern18 WR Jaden Upshaw, Leesburg (GA) Lee County 17 TE Malik Howard, Oak Ridge (TN)51 OL Joshua Sam-Epelle, Douglasville (GA) Douglas CountyWest6 TE Ahmad Hudson, Ruston (LA)72 OL Jake Hildebrand, Chandler (AZ) Basha75 OL Kaeden Scott, San Antonio (TX) Roosevelt8 CB Duvay Williams, Gardena (CA) Junipero SerraAll of the above have the Aggies among their top few, and all but Sam-Epelle visited College Station this fall. Those listed on the West squad are also all multi-year targets who A&M offered early in the process. Here's a few more notes and thoughtsScott has a Texas A&M visit scheduled for January 17, and he visited multiple times throughout the spring, summer, and fall. As one of the top OLs in Texas, the in-state schools have all been involved in his recruitment, and the Aggies are positioned well to make a strong run as he figures out his next steps.Hildebrand is another long-time target with whom coach Cushing and the staff have formed a strong bond. He listed the Aggies in his top 10, and as expected, it is a who's who of college football. While Texas A&M is involved with quite a few top OLs and the in-state class is strong, Hildebrand is one of those high tier OLs Texas A&M fans have good reason to keep on the radar.Hudson is an intriguing one with the departure of tight end coach Christian Ellsworth. The Aggies were one of his first offers and the multi-sport standout has also had talks with the basketball staff. Ellsworth did plenty of heavy lifting in his recruitment, but he does have other connections to the staff from his many trips to Aggieland. Nebraska has always been a mainstay, and then there is LSU, and you better believe the Tigers are going to be tough to beat. Upshaw is a WR target I keep going back to. He was one of the first guys Jayce Johnson told me he was recruiting and after Upshaw's fall visit he spoke very highly of the A&M program and his overall experience. The Aggies have had a strong presence in Georgia the last few years, and as one of the state's top pass catchers, it is not hard to see the Aggies figuring prominently in his recruitment.A few more names of noteEast5 WR Tristen Keys, Hattiesburg (MS) - 2026 Tennessee signee78 OL Mason Joshua, Forney (TX) - 202765 OL Tristan Dare, Southlake (TX) Carroll - 2027 Michigan commit13 DL Seth Tillman, Rock Hill (SC) South Pointe - 202721 CB Jordan Thomas, Oradell (NJ) Bergen Catholic - 2026 Ohio State signeeWest28 RB Jonathan Hatton Jr, Cibolo (TX) Steele - 2026 Oklahoma signee1 RB SaRod Baker, DeSoto (TX) - 202711 DL Jamarion Carlton, Temple (TX) - 2026 Texas signee91 DL Deven Robertson, Hattiesburg (MS) Oak Grove - 202745 DL Jaimeon Winfield, Richardson (TX) - 2026 USC signee10 LB JaMarquis Hudson, Port Arthur (TX) Memorial - 2027I will be at practice tomorrow and you can expect interviews and coverage throughout the week from me and the TexAgs staff here in San Antonio. Stay tuned.

A pair of 2027 quick-hitters
First, Cy Ranch DT Amari Vickerson is closing in on a commitment in on January 18th. He has a final group of Texas A&M, Florida State, Texas, SMU, and Michigan. After checking with a couple of Houston based sources, I get the feeling that the Aggies have ramped up their intrigue and pursuit here throughout the back end of the fall and into the winter, especially from where things stood early last summer. Now, the hill they face is both stiff competition as well as currently holding a pair of commitments from Elijah Patmon and Myels Smith along the interior defensive line already in the 2027 class which is a point being driven home by the opposition. Vickerson has long held A&M in high regard, but as we sit today, I'd give a slight advantage to the field. We'll check the temperature again here after the New Year to see if anything has changed. Secondly, cornerback commit Hakim Frampton has landed at San Antonio Brandeis after announcing that he was leaving Arkansas following his state championship victory earlier this month. As such, we have inserted him into our 2027 rankings at #20. I'm looking forward to seeing him compete in both 7-on-7 tournaments and the camp circuit this offseason as he prepares for his senior season in the Alamo City.

A few Monday recruiting notes
It is All-American season and the Under Armour game is up first on January 3, and today the rosters for each team were released. The teams are Team Roses and Team Pearls and with six committed/signed prospects in attendance Texas A&M will be represented on both squads. Your official 2026 UA Next All-America Game Roster🌹 pic.twitter.com/4sQ2wODo5E— All-America Game (@UANextFootball) December 29, 2025 Team Roses3 Kamarui Dorsey, Hampton (GA) - 2027 S10 Raylaun Henry, Baltimore (MD) St. Frances Academy - 2027 CBTeam Pearls2 Jayce Johnson, Valdosta (GA) Lowndes - 2027 QB7 JayQuan Snell, Waxahachie (TX) - 2027 S10 Samu Moala, Lawndale (CA) Leuzinger - 2026 EDG16 Kaden McCarty, Cypress (TX) Cy Falls - 2027 EDGPlayers arrive in Florida tomorrow and there are a few other targets to watch. Joining Dorsey and Henry on Team Roses is 2027 target John Meredith IIIn high on the Aggies throughout his process. Texas A&M has also been involved with standouts Zane Rowe and Brian Swanson who are on team Roses. Team Pearls also features a few standout targets with the likes of Kennedy Brown, Anthony Sweeney, Jaiden Bryant, Tyson Robinson, Trenton Yancey, and Jalen Brewster (Texas Tech).Move-in day is approaching quickly with the majority of the 2026 class moving in on January 7. However, at least a couple will be making their way to town a little earlier. WRs Aaron Gregory and Madden Williams plan to move in this coming weekend before heading to San Antonio for the Navy All-American Bowl. They will also be joined by signees Brandon Arrington, Tristian Givens, and Jayden Warren in San Antonio. We have not confirmed when Arrington, Givens, and plan to move-in, but it is something to watch. 2027 commit Hakim Frampton will also play in the game. He is listed as a CB on the TexAgs commit list but has been a standout on both sides and he is currently listed as a WR on the Navy Bowl roster.2027 OL commit DeMarrion Johnson was also selected to play in the Navy Bowl, but he is not currently listed on the Navy Bowl roster. His status for the game is up in the air at the moment, but in other news he tells TexAgs he does plan to be back in College Station on January 17.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
