Gilbert and Tiller decommit, what's next? Plus OV news and more
Yesterday was a busy day with a couple of Texas A&M commits opting to re-open their recruitments. Both Fairburn (GA) Langston Hughes TE Xavier Tiller and Forney (TX) North Forney CB Ryan Gilbert announced their decommitments. Both are prospects who have been looking closely at other options for a while, so the news does not come as a complete surprise. Since it was not a surprise, it also does not catch the Aggies flat footed. So, let's start with the initial what does it mean?It means the Aggies now have eight commitments in the 2026 class. That is still twice as many as they had this time last year, and it is still well ahead of schedule for a typical recruiting cycle.I don't get the feeling this is a sign of guys leaving the class. The feedback we are getting is the rest of the class is on pretty solid ground. Yes, many are hearing from other top programs but that is to be expected when you recruit high end prospects. It does mean the Aggies have a need at TE and CB. The Aggies were always planning to take a couple of TEs and they have also had their eye on multiple cornerbacks for this cycle.Mike Elko and staff do have a TE commitment from Lakewood (CA) TE Caleb Tafua. He chose the Aggies in December, and at 6-4, 215 pounds he is known for his length, athleticism, and his abilities as pass catcher. When it comes to another target, I look for the Aggies to take a look at some bigger body types.Littleton (CO) Heritage TE Camden Jensen named the Aggies to his top seven along with Florida, Nebraska, North Carolina, UCLA, Missouri, and Washington. He checks in at 6-7, 240. Waukee (IA) TE Evan Jacobson checks in at 6-6, 230 and he visited in June. Omaha (NE) Millard South 6-6, 220-pound Isaac Jensen visited for camp and was offered shortly after. Then there is the most recent TE offer. The Aggies offered 6-4, 240-pound Luke Sorensen of Anaheim (CA) Servite in January. In state Braden Bach is a guy to keep on your radars. He checks in at 6-5, 230 and he was invited to a Texas A&M junior day in January. He did not end up making it but he is on the Aggies' radar and the Aggies are on his.At cornerback the Aggies have been heavy players for some of the nation's best. Dorian Barney of Carrollton (GA) visited multiple times this fall and is planning to get back to A&M this spring. Oradell (NJ) Bergen Catholic CB Jordan Thomas attended Texas A&M's July pool party, was at the season opener against Notre Dame, and he was back in town in January for Junior Day. Spring Valley (CA) Mount Miguel standout ATH Brandon Arrington is another to watch. The Aggies have been in a strong position throughout his recruitment and continue to build momentum with Jordan Peterson helping to lead the charge. In state there are guys like ATH Jermaine Bishop who is a standout at both CB and WR and is being recruited by Jordan Peterson. Port Arthur Memorial's Brock King is another who could get more of a push. As always new names it is a good bet we will see some new names and targets emerge this spring. An in-state sleeper I'm currently pretty high on at CB and recently highlighted is Richardson Berkner's DaQuwan Dunn. He checks in at 6-1, 170, and he has been a playmaker at QB, WR, and CB for the Rams. He saw his offer list grow considerably in January as schools got a look at his CB film and sized him up in person.Anyway that's that. Now for some OV news. I'll start with KJ Edwards. The Carthage (TX) RB does have official visit plans to Texas A&M, but he is still working on solidifying his date. Regardless look for the Aggies to get a visit this summer. The Aggies have also ramped things up with Tupelo (MS) defensive end JaReylan McCoy. He first caught my attention when the Aggies were recruiting LB Tristan Jernigan and he ended up committing to LSU at the Under Armour game in January. The 6-6, 245-pound defender has since re-opened his recruitment and he has plans to visit College Station this spring and return for an official this summer. He is still working to solidify a date, but he says he has been in strong contact the whole defensive staff, and they are making him feel like he is a big target. He has also been in touch with Tristan who has stayed in touch and is sending him video from workouts.Staying in the trenches, Columbus (GA) Carver 2026 OL Parker Pritchett also has visit plans for Aggieland. The 6-5, 305-pound OL plans to take an unofficial this spring and he already has an official visit scheduled for June 5. He received his offer from Texas A&M this summer following a strong camp performance, and he helped pave the way for a 14-1 state championship season at Carver this fall. One more final note, I mentioned Helaman Casuga coming to Houston this weekend for a 7-on-7 event, but his team has had a change in plans. They were originally planning to compete at the Shock Doctor tournament this weekend in Houston, but they pulled out to play in a tournament in Atlanta. He was in action this past weekend at the Battle tournament in Las Vegas and took home a title. After 5 months of recovery …this one hits different 2025 Battle Vegas Champs 💍 Next 🛑…Houston 2•15•25 Shoc. Visitor List: Texas A&M vs Texas
This is the list we've been able to piece together up to this point. There are going to be some more names added between now and Saturday - a few late adds and others who we are going to hold until we get confirmation they're on the way to campus. While there are no 2025 quarterbacks on this list right now, we are extremely confident that there will be within the next 24-36 hours so stay tuned on that front. *** Eli Morcos was added on Thursday after the original post was made. ****** Brady Hart was added on Friday after the original post was made. ***Texas A&M CommitsProsper OL Connor CartyMidlothian OL Nelson McGuire Dickinson OL Tyler Thomas Cocoa (FL) QB Brady Hart Jasper TE Kiotti Armstrong Hitchcock WR Kelshaun Johnson Montgomery (AL) Carver WR Tristan Norman Cy-Fair DL Landon Rink Bellville DT DJ Sanders Danville (CA) San Ramon Valley OLB Marco Jones La Verne (CA) Bonita LB Noah Mikhail Forney LB Kelvion Riggins Shadow Creek CB Cobey Sellers Lancaster (CA) Quartz Hill CB Adonyss Currie Phoenix (AZ) Desert Edge CB Jamar Beal-Goines Katy Paetow NB Deyjhon Pettaway Bushnell (FL) South Sumter S Rashad Johnson A&M Consolidated K Colton Chmelar Bellaire Episcopal LS Gray Evans 2026 Draper (UT) Corner Canyon QB Helaman Casuga 2026 Fairburn (GA) Langston Hughes TE Xavier Tiller 2026 Douglasville (GA) Douglas County WR Aaron Gregory 2026 Douglasville (GA) Douglas County DE Jordan Carter 2026 North Forney CB Ryan Gilbert 2026 Mesquite Horn S Markel Ford 2025 Prospects/TargetsMontgomery Lake Creek QB Eli Morcos - Tulsa commitSpring Dekaney ATH Nicholas Townsend - Texas commit Lewisville OL Michael Fasusi - Oklahoma commitLewisville OL Sean Hutton - Oklahoma PWO commitMesquite Horn OL Lamont Rogers - Missouri commitMemphis (TN) Melrose RB Jamarion Morrow - Missouri commitBellville RB DD Murray Cy-Fair HBack/TE Wyatt Herbel - Houston commitDraper (UT) Corner Canyon WR Jerome Myles - USC commitLufkin DT Zion Williams - LSU commitBaton Rouge (LA) University Lab LB Keylan Moses - LSU commit2026 Prospects/TargetsSpring Valley (CA) Mount Miguel ATH Brandon Arrington Newnan (GA) ATH Rodney Colton Jr - South Carolina commitEuless Trinity OL Pupungatoa Katoa Klein OL Nicolas Robertson Orlando (FL) First Academy OL Chancellor Barclay Orange (CA) Lutheran OL Samuelu Utu Midlothian OL Noah Best Flower Mound OL Drew Evers Prosper OL Zaden Krempin Ft Bend Ridge Point OL Avery Morcho Frisco Lone Star RB Davian Groce - maybeCibolo Steele RB Jonathan Hatton Jr - Oklahoma commitCarthage RB KJ Edwards Fairburn (GA) Langston Hughes RB Carsyn Baker Port Arthur Memorial RB Amante Martin Forney RB Javian Osborne Lakewood (CA) TE Caleb Tafua Argyle TE Braden Bach Frisco Panther Creek WR Jalen Lott Carrollton (GA) WR Ryan Mosley Waco University WR London Smith Bellflower (CA) St. John Bosco WR Madden Williams Bossier City (LA) Airline WR Kenny Darby - LSU commitHattiesburg (MS) WR Tristen Keys Naples (FL) First Baptist Academy WR Jayden Petit Douglasville (GA) Douglas County WR Devin Carter Aledo WR Kaydon Finley Destrehan (LA) WR Jabari Mack Temple DE Jamarion Carlton Baltimore (MD) St. Frances Academy DE Zion Elee Mobile (AL) St. Paul's Episcopal DE Anthony Jones Arlington Martin DE Jesse Ford Smithson Valley DE Hudson Woods Duncanville DE KJ Ford Baton Rouge (LA) University Lab DL Lamar Brown Richardson DL Jaimeon Winfield Dyke (VA) Blue Ridge School DL Valdin Sone Port Arthur Memorial LB Tank King Little Rock (AR) Parkview Magnet LB Jakore Smith Barnesville (GA) Lamar County LB Kaden Carter Katy Mayde Creek LB Kosi Okpala Carrollton (GA) CB Dorian Barney Toledo (OH) Central Catholic CB Victor Singleton Hollywood (FL) Chaminade-Madonna S Derrek Cooper Baltimore (MD) St. Frances Academy S Jireh Edwards Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman S Jett Washington Orlando (FL) First Academy S Devin Jackson Atlanta (GA) Woodward Academy S Blake Stewart Frisco Panther Creek S Donovan Webb Pascagoula (MS) S Tylan Wilson Frisco Lone Star S Jordan Deck 2027 Targets/ProspectsOlathe (KS) West QB Cameron Kruse Bastrop QB Weston Nielsen Anna OL Peyton Miller Texarkana Texas OL Qua Ford Moss Bluff (LA) Sam Houston OL Albert Simien Shadow Creek RB Tristan Willis Tyler WR Trey Haralson Cy Ranch DL Amari Vickerson Raleigh (NC) Millbrook LB Quinton Cypher Baltimore (MD) St. Frances Academy CB Raylaun Henry Pittsburgh (PA) Aliquippa CB Larry Moon III Lewisville CB Taelyn Mayo Baton Rouge (LA) University Lab DB Emmanuel Moses 2028 Targets/ProspectsClear Lake ATH Terrell Stinson Carthage ATH JD Edwards Klein Oak RB Micah Rhodes Tulsa (OK) Union DL Terrance Evans 2029 Targets/ProspectsBeaumont West Brook WR Brock Anderson

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
