Around Texas: A round-up of recruiting news in the Lone Star State
As spring rolls on, scholarship offers continue to fly in from all over the country, many of the state's top prospects are narrowing their lists and some are making early decisions. Jason Howell has all the latest developments inside.
A few recruiting quick hitters
-Houston Heights CB Jalen Green released his top schools via Twitter tonight. Jason recently reported that Green informed him he hadn't been in touch with A&M for a while. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the Aggies were left off that list. With limited scholarship numbers, it looks like the staff's primary targets in the secondary will be Verone McKinley III and Trevon Moehrig-Woodard (who is expected to visit later this month) at corner and Leon O'Neal at safety. -Ft Bend Ridge Point TE Mustapha Muhammad didn't make it to town for the Spring Game. As I stated this weekend, it certainly looks like Clemson is out front here as well as Michigan. He's going to release his top schools soon, and while I fully expect the Aggies to make the cut, they'll have to show Muhammad that they're serious about the TE being an integral part of the offense this fall to have a legitimate chance. Again, if you're asking me today where he lands, I think it's Clemson.-So where could A&M turn if they fall out of favor with Muhammad? I think they'll take a long look at Cuero's Bralen Taylor. He's 6-7 and can run. He's seen his stock steadily rise over the last 4 months.-Speaking of Cuero, 2019 ATH Jordan Whittington will cut his list of schools down this week. A&M should be safely in his top group. Watch out for Florida in the long run here. - 2019 A&M Consolidated OL Reid Francis made his second trip to Kyle Field in as many weeks. He got to the scrimmage late because of ACT testing Saturday morning and was pretty beat after a long day. I don't expect an offer until he's further evaluated this spring and summer, but it's pretty evident there's big reciprocated interest here.
