Friday Night Lights: Live updates on Texas A&M's top targets
The TexAgs recruiting team is back on the road as the high school football season begins, checking out the Aggie staff's most coveted prospects. Today, Jason Howell visits Arlington to see 2018 DL Bobby Brown, and Ryan Brauninger heads up the road to get a look at 2020 OL pledge Jordan Jefferson.
Wednesday evening recruiting notes
-St. Louis Chaminade (MO) DT Trevor Trout recently released his top 6. Texas A&M did not make the cut. Remember, Trout made a summer visit through multiple schools in Texas with his mother and was in pretty regular contact with Aggie DE commit Max Wright. However, none of the schools on that Texas trip made the cut. His final six are Alabama, USC, UCLA, Mizzou, Miami, and Georgia. -Boling ATH Vernon Jackson is expected to announce his commitment this weekend. Our reports have been that the Ags have made up some ground, but ultimately, it looks like they'll finish second to Alabama.-I finally caught up with Manvel WR Jalen Preston yesterday night. The A&M commit was stuck in his home for an extended period of time during Harvey. He told me that last night was the first time he had been able to get out, get his phone working, and get food. -Conroe Oak Ridge DE and priority A&M target Joseph Ossai is still planning on visiting Notre Dame this weekend despite his HS game being cancelled. This has felt like a courtesy trip for a while now, but I'll catch up with Joe when he returns from South Bend. -In the good news department, A&M commit Jordan Moore and his Yoakum teammates will play football this weekend at Hondo. Yoakum was hit pretty hard by Harvey's initial landfall, and the school was even vandalized while the town was trying to pick up the pieces in the day or so after the storm left town. In week two, Yoakum travels to Cuero for a big time tilt which I plan on being at. -With the cancellation of nearly all high school football games in the greater Houston area this weekend, I'll be just up the road as Navasota and 2020 A&M OL commit Jordan Jefferson take on Franklin. There's a sneaky suspicion that Franklin OL and Baylor commit Casey Phillips could re-emerge on the A&M radar should some scholarship room open up. I'd table that discussion for right now, but it will be good to get eyes on Phillips again just in case the Ags decide to reengage him. Phillips is planning to enroll early at Baylor and checked in recently at 6-6, 290.
