Under Armour All American game - Media Day
I just settled in at the Orlando World Marriott for the Under Armour All American game media day event. Players should be arriving here within the next hour or so, and I'll post some quick hitting updates as they arrive. I'll obviously focus on the A&M trio that will be here, but I'll also grab some notes from familiar names during this 2020 cycle. Running Recruiting Thread - National Signing Day
Well, it's here, boys and girls. We've made it to National Signing Day, and, as is typical, my phone is already going off. We'll use this thread to pop in and out of today when we can while we chase down the latest as well as do the big radio show. Here's the latest I've been able to gather early this morning...Like Looch said late last night, Miami (FL) DE and Texas A&M commit Donell Harris remained in touch with A&M staff members and recruits well into last night. I spoke directly with another pair of A&M commits who were convinced Donell was going to honor his commitment and sign with the Aggies today. By my best estimation based on what I was told, Florida's last dialogue with Harris came around 930 last night. I believe there are definitely people close to Donell that would like to see him stay in-state. Personally, I think the kid wants to carve his own path. We'll continue to monitor the latest here, but, as we start decision day, my gut says the Aggies hang on by the thinnest of margins. If something happens with Donell, I THINK the scholarship may go to Louisiana native Edgerrin Cooper, but that's just a hunch I've gathered trying to corroborate intel. Got a phone call out of Houston already this morning about North Shore RB Zach Evans. It sounds like Zach is still very much mulling over his decision. The Aggie staff was in contact with Zach's camp throughout the day yesterday, but I was told Zach wanted some time away from the back-and-forth to clear his head. Keep in mind that he's got a massive football game on Saturday afternoon so he's juggling that, as well. What may be working in A&M's favor the most is that it seems that Demond Demas can get in touch with Zach as easy as anybody can. Demas said last night on Instagram live that he'd be going to Arlington on Saturday to support Zach and his quest to win another state championship. So, what will Zach do? I was told this morning there's indeed a chance he won't sign at all today. Remember, this signing period runs through Friday. Evans will undoubtedly have the LOI's to sign today if he chooses, but even still, there won't be any news made public as the plan remains to announce his decision at the Under Armour game in a couple of weeks. The Aggies and Tigers continue to run nose-to-nose to the finish line here, and based on what I gathered this morning, it remains anyone's guess as to how this will all play out - much like it has for the majority of the cycle. To piggyback off what Jason reported last night, a DFW source text me this morning to say they thought EJ Smith was headed out west to Stanford. That's kind of where things sit as we start the day. Stay locked into the site and the radio show as we sort through the latest.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
