Spring Day 12: Sumlin breaks down recent developments
• Kenny Hill not practicing would affect his ability to compete for a job. That goes for anybody.
• RSJ got a little nicked up after scoring two touchdowns Friday night. He'll be alright. We saw him be a factor on third down and in the red zone.
• Thought Kyle Allen and Matt Joeckel both did some good things and handled the ball well.
• Extremely disappointed to hear about Kenny Hill. I think people think we don't talk about anything with them. We have classes to help them through the structure of growing up.
• Fans were disappointed with not having the spring game, but we had a lot of good players at Friday Night Lights.
• Our guys have done a great job going through all the construction inconvenience and the locker room changes. It will become one of the finest complexes in the country.
• I want to see Edward Pope make some plays again after making some nice plays Friday. He has the talent, but we've had guys with good scrimmages and we have one more to define who you are coming out of spring football.
• We know what we have with the Williamses, but a guy that has come on has been James White. He's going to play special teams and then we will see how he fits in this group.
• We need to develop leadership on defense. Mastro will be a guy that will step up and talk with confidence amongst his teammates. Pleased with his development so far.
• Some good, some bad from safety play. We need consistency and they have to be good. The sense of urgency is there. Davonta Burns has continued to come on and is determined to get his way on the field.
• Deshazor Everett has been solid and hopefully can shut down one side of the field.
