Sky is the ceiling for A&M's talented receiver group

Transcendent creations do not happen quickly.
 
Every aspect of the progress takes precious consideration and concentration. Michelangelo and his Sistine Chapel took four years. Michael Jordan’s fadeaway didn’t come to full fruition until the second half of his career. Greatness in all forms is built in different ways, but one aspect is always apparent.
 
It’s a process.
 
What David Beaty and Kevin Sumlin are building at Texas A&M is no different.
 
This offense has amazed the past two years, and with increased depth, time and competition, it would be no surprise to see the masterpiece continue to unfold.
 
Beaty touched on all aspects of his group getting better after the second day of fall camp came to a close, including the effect of the new summer coaching rules.

“We are way ahead of what we’ve been in the past," he said. "Just in the process, there’s a lot less surprises when it comes into how are we going to do this. Training them on what we expect, before we couldn’t talk to them. Those eight hours a week have been great for us.”
 
With only one starting receiver returning, the push for playing time is on.

“There’s a lot of competition in that room," Beaty said. "It may be the best we’ve had. There are three spots that nobody has been able to lock down.”
 
Sabian Holmes shared his coach's sentiments.

“This is the tightest competition I’ve ever felt," Holmes said. "We just have so much talent at every position. We have two deep at least. We’ve never had that since I’ve been here. There is no room for mistakes. It’s a battle and it’s getting heated.”
 
With the mindset of getting better, every member of the unit knew they had things to improve on. Jeremy Tabuyo spoke of what he’s been working on: “Just getting used to the game speed we run over here. The speed here is a lot quicker. I just have to get used to it.”
 
As the season moves ever closer to the starting line, leadership becomes all that more important, and there appears to be plenty of it. Beaty touched on Ricky Seals-Jones' transition into being a leader.

“He’s here early and he’s here late," Beaty said. "He’s a leader by his actions.”

Malcome Kennedy has made his leadership presence felt to Holmes as well.

"We look at Malcome as a leader and I kind of just follow what he says," he said. "He’s a true student of the game. He’s very dedicated and loves football.”
 
Brilliance at receiver has been shown throughout the past few seasons in Aggieland.
 
The finished product, however, is coming.
