Mississippi State's shot at history
On Nov. 16, 1895, the Mississippi State Bulldogs played Union in the first football game in school history.
They lost, 21-0.
Hoping for a different outcome, the Bulldogs on Saturday enter the most important game in 115 seasons of Mississippi State football.
A victory against No. 4 Alabama would all but clinch first place in the Southeastern Conference West Division.
A win would give the Bulldogs a two-game lead with two games to play and lowly Vanderbilt next up.
