The Pecking Order: Updated Texas Class of 2019 Recruiting Rankings
The 2019 list expands from 25 to 50 this time around, and the top 25 has three new additions.
At the top, the top five stays strong. QB Grant Gunnell comes in at No. 1, ATH Jordan Whittington arrives at No. 2, Kenyon Green sits at No. 3, Brian Williams appears at No. 4 and Noah Cain rounds out the group at No. 5.
The biggest shake-ups in the top 25 include four Dallas-area prospects. LB NaNa Osafo-Mensah moves into the top 10, jumping more than 10 spots, and Flower Mound Marcus linebacker Marcel Brooks makes his debut at No. 17.
It is almost crazy to think these two were teammates as sophomores at Nolan Catholic. Osafo-Mensah has continued to impress on the camp circuit at both defensive end and linebacker, and he is drawing attention as a hybrid prospect. Meanwhile, Brooks has been one of the hottest prospects of the spring. His explosive play jumps off the tape, and college coaches have been flocking to see him.
Brooks’ Marcus teammate Justin Osborne also makes his top 25 debut at No. 23. He was close to making the initial list, but he was not getting left off this time around. At 6-4 and 255 pounds, he has a big frame and is one of the more athletic offensive tackles in the class.
Sticking to the northern DFW area, Hebron wide receiver Trejan Bridges rounds out the top 25. He is the seventh receiver on the list and helps the position group make a strong case for best in the state. Bridges is a smooth route-runner with quick feet and great body control and field awareness. He joins fellow wideouts Kameron Brown, Arjei Henderson, Jalen Curry (pictured above), Theo Wease and Marquez Beason in the top 25.

Marcus Stripling is one of the top defensive ends in the loaded 2019 class. The position group has 9 members in the TexAgs top 50.
Speaking of top positions, the defensive end group is
one of the strongest in the state after seeing a little bit of a down
year in the 2018 class. There are nine defensive ends in the top 50 – 10 if you include
Osafo-Mensah – which creates a tie with wide receiver for the most prospects in the top 50.
Only three of the 50 prospects are currently committed, but three more have made commitments and already re-opened their recruiting process.
The top 50 contains 3 QBs, 5 RBs, 10 WRs, 1 TE, 6 OLs, 4 DTs, 9 DEs, 3 LBs, 2 CBs, 5 Ss, and 2 ATHs.
