• Outside of a 40-plus yard run on the game's second snap, the A&M offense got off to another of its patented turtle-like starts, producing just 27 yards on the next 19 plays before Noel Mazzone made the decision to replace struggling true freshman Kellen Mond at quarterback with Nick Starkel. The offense began operating a little more smoothly from that point on, including producing 10 points in the ensuing two possessions, but the Ags' returns were still of the modest variety.
