2018 Arlington Lamar DE Bobby Brown picks Texas A&M on Signing Day
The recruiting processes has had some twists and turns for Arlington Lamar defensive end Bobby Brown, and on Signing Day they took one final turn. A few days after spending the weekend on an unofficial visit in College Station, he decided to flip from Alabama to Texas A&M.
“What brought me back is I knew when I first committed there that’s where I wanted to be," Brown said. "When everything transpired I went to Alabama for personal reasons and other people being in my ear. Then I finally thought this weekend, having fun, looking at my friends having fun that this is the place I want to be at.”
The weekend unofficial visit proved to be a big turning point in his recruiting process. Texas A&M has been trending upward over the last month of the process, but his experience this weekend put the Aggies over the top.
“I knew A&M was my choice when I went up there and we were taking pictures. It was me, Leon, Jaylen, Jordan, Javonte, Daylon, Ryan and Brianna, and I saw how nice the coaches treated them and I just sat back and said, 'This is family. This is where I want to be.'”
Brown previously committed to Texas A&M at the end of October. He re-opened his recruiting process in December following the coaching change, and a few days later he committed to Alabama.
After choosing the Crimson Tide it did not look promising for the Aggies, but Terry Price, Tim Brewster, and Jimbo Fisher all played major roles in flipping him from Alabama and bringing him back into Texas A&M’s 2018 recruiting class.
He joins Max Wright and Tyree Wilson in Texas A&M’s defensive line class.
In addition to Texas A&M and Alabama, Brown also received scholarship offers from Texas, Oklahoma, Florida State, Michigan, Nebraska, and Ohio State over the course of the recruiting process.
