Notes from Olin's thoughts on Buckley
-
I like Camron, and I don’t know if he’ll ever be a 60-catch-per-season or all-conference guy, but what I like about him is how hard and fearless he played as a freshman. He has good hands, he’s a physical guy, and when you’re not afraid as a freshman, that makes me really high on you. You want a tough team, even at the receiver position, and Cam Buckley is a tough guy.

Look, last year, he was just a backup. You had Christian Kirk to throw to, you had Jhamon Ausbon with 50 catches. He was just a guy looked at to spell somebody. This year, I think he’ll have a bigger role and will flourish. I believe he’ll take advantage of this bigger role and be very productive. I’m not saying he’ll catch 50 or 60 passes, but he’s your guy if you want someone that will catch the ball in traffic as well as block down field and knock somebody down.

I think he’s got a world of potential. I don’t think he’ll ever lead A&M in receiving, but I think he’ll be a productive player that will do the little things that sometimes get overlooked and help you win a game. What I like is toughness. I know you want tough linemen, but I want everybody to be tough. You might question the toughness of a lot of guys, but after last year, I don’t question that about him.

I’m not surprised he’s on the leadership council. He’s a good football player. You know what’s important to him, because he plays like it’s important to him. How many players are even trying to make the block he did on the goal line that ended up being a penalty? He wasn’t trying to get in the way of somebody; he was trying to blow somebody up.
