It's official: College Gameday headed to Aggieland for A&M vs. Clemson

Within a couple of hours of Texas A&M's dominant performance in Jimbo Fisher's inaugural game at Kyle Field on Thursday night, rumors began to circulate that ESPN already had decided to set up camp in College Station next Saturday. Tonight they made that official during Alabama's romp of Louisville, announcing that College Gameday will emanate from outside of Kyle Field for the week two clash between Texas A&M and the second-ranked Clemson Tigers.

Fisher and Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney are two of only four active head coaches wearing national title rings. (Are we still counting Urban Meyer as an active head coach?) We'll redo this storyline in two weeks in Tuscaloosa, by the way, when Fisher faces one of the other two on that list.

Saturday's game also will mark the ninth straight year that Jimbo and Dabo have met on the field as head coaches. They squared off in ACC contests each of the last eight seasons while Fisher was running the show at Florida State, each winning four of those games. Include years one or both were assistants at Clemson and FSU, and Saturday's showdown will mark the twelfth consecutive year they've coached on opposite sidelines, so there is no lack of familiarity between the two.

Here's hoping this one delivers like the last Gameday visit when the Aggies won a 45-38 overtime thriller against Tennessee in 2016.
