Around Aggieland (2/3)
Here’s a recap on a busy weekend for the Ags competing around the country.
Men’s Basketball
On Saturday, Aggie Men’s Basketball fell to Georgia in a 63-48. Chuck Mitchell led Texas A&M with 13 points, while Savion Flagg added seven rebounds to lead in that regard.
The team will be back in town on Tuesday at Reed Arena, tip at 8:00 p.m. against Missouri.
Women’s Basketball (No. 15)
Gary Blair’s crew lost a tight battle to LSU, fighting hard for a 59-58 outcome. A&M outscored the Tigers 34-28 in the paint, and Kayla Wells made it six straight games scoring in double figures with the 16 points she scored. N'dea Jones, who is the only player in the SEC to put up a double-double in every conference game, gave the Ags 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The ladies will be on the road on Sunday, February 9th, at 12:00 p.m. vs. MSU.
Equestrian (No. 6)
A&M Equestrian hosted Georgia, and picked up a win, finishing 9-9 (1628.25-1588.5). Most Outstanding Players were named Ashley Davidson in Horsemanship, Caroline Dance in equine on the Flat, and Darby Gardner in the reigns.
The team will travel to #5 South Carolina on February 8th and are set to start at 9 a.m.
Men’s Swimming and Diving (No. 5)
On Friday, Aggie Men’s Swimming and Diving celebrated their seniors, and also celebrated a victory over SMU. A&M tallied 158 points to SMU’s 99.

Jake Gibbons – Back/Free – Jacksonville, Fla.
Adam Koster – Free – Trophy Club, Texas
Mike Thibert – Free – Mansfield, Texas
Benjamin Walker – IM/Breast – The Woodlands, Texas
The team will be back in action for NCAA Championships on February 18-22.
Women’s Tennis (No. 18)
Women’s Tennis had a full weekend with three matches. Beginning with Stenson, the Aggies won 4-0. They continued their strong showing against Georgia Southern in a 7-0 win, before falling to #15 UCF 5-2.
The team will take the court on February 14th at home when they host McNeese and Illinois.
Men’s Tennis (No. 9)
Undefeated Aggie Men’s Tennis added a pair of wins on the season. On Friday, they topped Tulsa in a 6-1 victory and followed suit on Sunday against Texas Tech as they finished with the same score.
The men are surely preparing for a tough matchup as they take on #6 Ohio State on February 11th at 5:00 p.m. in Columbus.
Track and Field (Men’s No. 5, Women’s No. 7)
The indoor track and field season continued as the Aggies competed in the Texas Tech Invitational. The Maroon and White took four events. Highlighted by Deborah Acquah, besting her record set only a few weeks ago. Her long jump of 21' 7.25" (6.58m) was half an inch better than her previous mark, which was already the best in the country this season. In the men’ s 4x400 relay, the A&M team clocked a time of 3:02.77, which leads the country in the category currently. Charokee Young took first place in her college debut in the 800m with a time of 2:08.38, which is 5th fastest in A&M indoor history. In the B high jump on the men’s side, Mason Corbin placed first, and Jake Lamberth in third, in the women’s event, Taryn Milton earned the top spot for the Aggies.
A&M will host the Charlie Thomas Invitational this weekend in College Station at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium, beginning at 2:30 p.m. on February 7th.
