A pair of former Texas A&M athletes, now husband and wife, Chris Harrington & Melissa Garey joined TexAgs Radio to discuss their business, Fish Fixe, which sends restaurant-quality fish straight to your door for an easy weeknight dinner.
Key notes from our interview with Melissa Garey Harrington & Chris Harrington
- I feel like there should be an Aggie medal of honor that we get for making Billy Liucci a domesticated housewife who now cooks at home. That seems like a huge deal.
- We went into the wholesale business when Chris finished playing football. After our second son was born, we were selling seafood but weren't eating it. We were working full-time, but it wasn't in the correct portions ready to go. Emily, a business partner, asked if she could buy it. A brainstorming session led to a business. In a few months, we built a website and got our vendors lined up. That was about three years ago and now it's off and running.
- Unlike other subscription models, we focus on the proteins. These are the same proteins that we're selling to the highest tier restaurants in the state, but it's shipping directly to your doorstep. These are really fresh, very high-quality fish portions.
- I think the actual cooking comes with confidence. Like any home chef, you get more confident with time. The thing about seafood is that it cooks and thaws easily, so you can have dinner on the table in a really short period of time.
- Go to FishFixe.com, and there is a coupon code for our fellow Aggies: GIGEM15. That'll get you 15 dollars off your first box. We're excited to bring it to all of our Aggies.
