Around Aggieland (11/6)
During Friday's edition of TexAgs Radio, the fish bowl's own Richard Zane joined to share updates from the latest in Aggie Athletics as there were numerous honors to run down from this past week and plenty of action ahead this weekend.
Football (4-1)
No. 7 Texas A&M and South Carolina will kick off at 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN this Saturday. The Aggies have never lost to the Gamecocks (6-0).
Carson Green was named the SEC’s Offensive Lineman of the Week following his performance vs. Arkansas last Saturday.
Ainias Smith was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll for his two-touchdown performance vs. Arkansas last Saturday.
Both Kellen Mond and Jalen Wydermyer received Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Honorable Mention honors for their performances vs. Arkansas last Saturday.
Soccer (5-1)
It’s matchday as No. 8 Texas A&M hosts LSU tonight at Ellis Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT and can be streamed on SEC Network+
- G Guerrieri previewed the match (and Monday’s contest with Auburn) on Thursday’s edition of TexAgs Radio.
- It is also Senior Night, and the Aggies will honor Addie McCain, Taylor Ziemer and Jimena Lopez before tonight’s match.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Addie McCain, a senior midfielder from Wylie, had been named the Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Month for October.
It was also announced on Tuesday that Karlina Sample, a junior defender from Frisco, had been selected to this week’s Top Drawer Soccer Women’s Team of the Week following her performance vs. Alabama.
A&M wraps up their season on Monday afternoon with a “businessman’s special” against Auburn. The match is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. CT start at Ellis Field and can be streamed on SEC Network+. (Rescheduled from Sept. 27 cancelation due to COVID-19 protocols)
Volleyball (4-2)
No. 6 Texas A&M suffered their first two losses of the season this week as the Aggies fell to Mississippi State on Wednesday (3-1) and Thursday (3-2) at Reed Arena.
Bird Kuhn and the Aggies are back in action next Friday, November 13, for the first of two road matches with the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville.
Golf
Women’s golf began play Friday morning in the Liz Murphy Fall Collegiate at the UGA Golf Course in Athens. The competition continues through Sunday.
Men’s golf begins play on Sunday in the Jerry Pate National Invitational at the Old Overton Club in Birmingham, Alabama. The tournament is being hosted by the University of Alabama, and the competition will wrap up on Tuesday.
Swimming & Diving
Both the men (0-1) and women (0-1) are back in action on Friday as the Aggies host TCU at the Rec Center Natatorium. The women begin at 2:00 p.m. CT, while the men’s meet begins at 5:00 p.m. CT. Both can be streamed on SEC Network+. The event is closed to the public.
Shaine Casas, junior from McAllen, was named the SEC’s co-swimmer of the week for his performance in the Aggies’ dual meet with the University of Texas last week. This is the second time this season that Casas has received the honor.
Equestrian (1-2)
No. 7 Texas A&M wrapped up their fall season on Thursday afternoon as the Aggies upset third-ranked South Carolina, 13-7, at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
- The Aggies had previously faced the No. 4 and No. 1 ranked teams in the nation prior to the meet with the Gamecocks.
Men’s Basketball
The Southeastern Conference released the 2020-2021 men’s basketball schedule on Friday morning. League play will begin on December 29 and run through the first weekend in March. The Aggies open SEC play with LSU on Dec. 29 in Baton Rouge, and will host Auburn on Jan. 2 in their first home SEC contest.
