Obviously, I love all the Aggie highlights, but I found the last clip quite touching, the one with the South Carolina players standing at the end of the game in what appears to be a traditional moment (my guess is it's probably with the Gamecock band playing the school song in the stands). Too bad SC has so many boo birds; then again, Will Muschamp ain't giving them any reason not to show their dislike and angst.
Still, their players worked probably just as hard as our Aggies in the off-season. Which means A LOT. They deserve better. I suppose that's what endeared me to A&M back in 1974 when my application was accepted: we stand IN SUPPORT OF our team, not to diminish others. I gotta tell you, that felt good in Kyle Field to see that, to be a part of that. I think Johnny Manziel captured it the best in his Heisman Award acceptance speech: "the 12th Man stands as a part of the team." It's what college sports is supposed to be about.
Yeah, yeah... I know the "boo bird factory" has been gaining presence and adding unfavorable annexes at Aggieland in the past number of years, and it tugs at my Aggie heart to see it/hear it. Bottom-line: these guys on the field bust their caboose to play for their school... any school. Win or lose (or in the ancient Aggie vernacular, "get outscored'), they deserve more respect.
Gig'em, Aggies!
Beat the HELL Outta UT!!
