During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the hardwood and beyond as there is plenty going on with Texas A&M Athletics.


Men’s Basketball (13-2, 2-0 in SEC)
Buzz Williams and the Aggies won their sixth consecutive game on Saturday afternoon as Texas A&M held off a furious rally to beat Arkansas, 86-81.

  • Texas A&M led by as many as 17 in the second half.
  • Quenton Jackson scored a team-high 16 points, including a clutch 3-pointer with 0:34 remaining.
  • Four other Aggies scored in double-digits: Henry Coleman III (14), Andre Gordon (13), Tyrece Radford (12) and Wade Taylor IV (11).
  • Free-throw shooting plagued the Aggies (16-30; 53%), but Hassan Diarra and Marcus Williams each hit two in the final 0:14 of play to ice the win.
  • Texas A&M is 2-0 in Southeastern Conference play for the first time since 2015-16.
    • Auburn (3-0) is the only other undefeated team remaining in conference play.

The Aggies are back at Reed Arena on Tuesday night as they host the Ole Miss Rebels.

  • Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.

Women’s Basketball (10-5, 0-3 in SEC)
Despite holding a 19-point lead in the third quarter, No. 25 Texas A&M fell to Florida in double overtime on Sunday afternoon, 97-89.

  • The loss is the Aggies’ third consecutive defeat.
  • Qadashah Hoppie scored 25 points, and Kayla Wells scored 23.
  • Aaliyah Patty had a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.
  • Florida outscored the Aggies 19-10 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Texas A&M’s tough stretch continues on Thursday as the Aggies travel to Columbia to face No. 1 South Carolina.

  • Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.

Women’s Golf
Graduate student Amber Park won the Mexican Women’s Amateur at the Guadalajara Country Club this weekend.

  •  Park shot a four-round total of 293 (73, 73, 71, 76) to win the event by one stroke.
  • The victory is Park’s second career amateur championship and earns her an exemption into the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur, which will be played Aug. 8-14 at Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington.

Texas A&M begins its spring slate on Feb. 21 in the ICON in Humble.

Soccer
Freshman defender Mia Pante has received an invitation to Canada’s Women’s U20 National Team identification camp, which will take place from Jan. 9-14.

  • The Vancouver, British Columbia native had eight assists in her freshman campaign and earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors.
  • The camp is part of Canada’s preparations for the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championships, which will be played in the Dominican Republic from Feb. 25-March 12.
