Texas A&M guard Quenton Jackson earns second-team All-SEC honors
Texas A&M’s guard Quenton Jackson on Tuesday was named to the second unit of the All-Southeastern basketball team.
A senior from Los Angeles, Jackson ranks 10th in the SEC in scoring with a 14.5 average. He also ranks 10th in steals with 51. He’s fifth in the SEC with an 85.0 free throw percentage.
Although leading A&M in scoring, Jackson has primarily come off the bench this season. However, he’s been moved to the starting lineup during the Aggies’ recent streak in which the Maroon & White closed the regular season by winning five of their last six games.
Jackson averaged 21.2 points in that six-game stretch. He’s also shot 63 percent from the field and 89.3 percent from the foul line.
Jackson has scored in double figures in 13 consecutive games.
He’s scored at least 11 points in 14 of 18 SEC games.
Jackson was named the SEC’s Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season after scoring 28 points at Alabama and 18 against Mississippi State to lead the Aggies to victory in both contests.
With Jackson leading the way, the Maroon & White put a four-game winning streak on the line when they play Florida in the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Tampa Bay on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. CT.
