During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the tennis courts, the diamonds and beyond as there is plenty going on with Texas A&M Athletics.


Women’s Tennis (32-1, 13-0 in SEC)
#7 Texas A&M breezed through the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournaments as the Aggies decisively beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Baylor this weekend at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

  • Friday: #7 Texas A&M 4, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 0
    • The Aggies won the doubles point, 2-0.
    • Tatiana Makarova won her match over Mariya Shumeika in straight sets (6-0, 6-1).
    • Mary Stoiana won her match over Camille Townsend in straight sets (6-1, 6-0).
    • Jeanette Mireles won her match over Kateryna Rublevska in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).
  • Saturday: #7 Texas A&M 4, Baylor 1
    • The Aggies won the doubles point, 2-0.
    • Makarova won her match over Alicia Herrero in straight sets (6-3, 6-0).
    • Stoiana won her match over Mel Krywoj in straight sets (6-3, 6-1).
    • Mireles won her match over Paula Baranano in straight sets (6-3, 6-2).

Mark Weaver & Co. advance to their third consecutive round of 16, and for the first time in program history, Texas A&M will host next weekend’s super regional against Vanderbilt at the Mitchell Tennis Center in Bryan-College Station.

Men’s Tennis (22-14, 7-5 in SEC)
Texas A&M’s 2022 campaign came to a close this weekend as the Aggies fell to #3 Baylor in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

  • Friday: Texas A&M 4, Tulsa 1
    • The Aggies won the doubles point, 2-0.
    • Raphael Perot won his match over Stefan Hampe in straight sets (6-0, 6-3).
    • Guido Marson won his match over Ezequiel Santalla in straight sets (6-3, 7-5).
    • Giulio Perego won his match over Adham Gaber in three sets (6-1, 3-6, 7-6).
  • Saturday: #3 Baylor 4, Texas A&M 2

Baseball (30-16, 14-10)
No. 13 Texas A&M won its fifth consecutive SEC series over the weekend, taking two of three from the South Carolina Gamecocks at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

  • Friday: No. 13 Texas A&M 16, South Carolina 4
    • The Aggies homered five times in the series-opening victory.
    • Austin Bost homered twice.
    • Jack Moss and Ryan Targac each hit a home run.
    • Jordan Thompson hit an eighth-inning grand slam.
    • Dylan Rock finished 0-for-0 with five walks, tying a school record.
  • Saturday: No. 13 Texas A&M 13, South Carolina 12
    • South Carolina led 9-0 after the fourth inning.
    • Targac's fifth-inning grand slam highlighted a five-run frame.
    • Trevor Werner hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to jumpstart a second five-run inning.
    • Brett Minnich hit a two-run, walk-off home run with two outs in the ninth.

With yet another series win in the book, the Aggies have moved up to No. 10 in the latest D1Baseball poll.

The Aggies do not have a midweek game this week and will host Mississippi State for a three-game series in Aggieland beginning on Friday.

Softball (28-25, 6-18 in SEC)
Texas A&M concluded its regular season this weekend as the Aggies dropped two of three to the No. 5 Arkansas Razorbacks, the SEC’s regular-season champion.

  • Friday: Texas A&M 6, No. 5 Arkansas 5 (9 innings)
    • Trinity Cannon hit a two-run home run in the first inning.
    • Cayden Baker hit a solo home run in the fifth.
    • Haley Lee hit a solo home run in the sixth.
    • Katie Dack’s ninth-inning single to left center scored Alexis Tippit to walk-off the Hogs.

The Aggies will now travel to Gainesville for the 2022 Southeastern Conference Tournament, which begins on Tuesday.

  • Texas A&M is the #12 seed and will face #13 South Carolina on Tuesday night.
    • 6 p.m. CT, televised on the SEC Network

Women's Golf
No. 15 Texas A&M begins play in the Franklin Regional on Tuesday, May 9, at the par-72, 6,450-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club.

  • Texas A&M's lineup will include Adela Cernousek, Hailee Cooper, Jennie Park, Blanca Fernández García-Poggio and Zoe Slaughter.
  • Also competing in the Frankle Regional are Wake Forest, Alabama, Duke, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, BYU, Kent State, UTSA, Augusta, Boston University and Austin Peay.
