One-on-one Locker Room Chat with David Loubeau

On playing like he was not ready for his career to end…
“Yeah, of course me and Dash are never ready to hang them up and there is still life in the season. We’re not looking back, we’re looking forward and it’s a great win at the right time to get some momentum.”

On coming up big in the second half…
“That was it right there. I could make it my last 20 minutes, or it could be one more game. I was just thinking in that mindset, me and Dash. The other seniors were motivating us on the court, so we just went out there and played our heart out. We really dominated on defense and rebounding. With those two qualities, you’re going to end up with a win no matter who it is.”

On the key to him and Ray Turner getting going in the second half…
“It was just really crashing the boards. Late in the game I got a little tip-in that was a pretty big basket. Rebounding and running the floor and setting good screens, screening some of the guards so they could help, then the guards can throw it back and we can go to work.”

On Dash Harris’ three-pointer late in the game…
“Oh yeah, it was a huge shot and that happens to him a lot, so it’s good that he could hit that shot and get his confidence going. Hopefully he can hit a lot more of those. That’ll help spread the floor.”

On playing with chemistry and having a lot of fun on the court…
“It was just ball movement. The ball wasn’t sticking in anyone’s hands, we were just moving the ball and taking the right shots. Shot selection was big this game and we were just playing hard and crashing the boards. It all just adds up, and transition was really good. I got some key transition baskets that really helped us.”

On the keys to beating Kansas…
“All of us need to be [ready to play]. Play really good defense on their two primary scorers, Taylor and Robinson, rebound and defend. We have to finish baskets in transition because it’s not easy scoring with guys like Jeff Withey that block a lot of shots. We’ve got to execute on offense and take right shots and I think we’ll be fine.”

1 career double double?
Are you joking?
If that's true, that is terribly disappointing
