2023 Mansfield Lake Ridge DL Rylan Kennedy commits to Texas A&M
Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M continue to keep the recruiting momentum moving, and they return to DFW with their latest addition as Mansfield (TX) Lake Ridge edge defender Rylan Kennedy announced his decision.
Kennedy emerged as a top prospect as a senior. At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, he recorded 61 tackles, 10 TFLs, five sacks and 12 QB hurries in 10 games and saw college offers arrive from across the country.
He grew up playing football but decided to focus on basketball after the eighth grade. Kennedy earned first-team all-district honors in basketball following the 2021-22 season in a tough district which includes Duncanville, Cedar Hill and Waxahachie.
Last spring, Kennedy decided to return to football, and in his first and only varsity season, he earned offers from USC, Cal, Auburn, Washington and Texas in addition to Texas A&M.
Texas A&M extended an offer to Kennedy on Dec. 5 and hosted Kennedy and his mother for an official visit the weekend of Dec. 9. He becomes the 13th member of A&M’s 2023 class, and he joins David Hicks and Samu Taumanupepe on the defensive front. Defensive line coach Terry Price led the Aggies’ recruiting efforts, and Kennedy is the third member of the class from the DFW area.
