Texas A&M picks up former Florida State CB Sam McCall via transfer portal
Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M are hitting the transfer portal harder than ever this recruiting cycle, and they welcome a New Year's Eve addition as cornerback Sam McCall announced his future college plans.
McCall checks in at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds and signed with Florida State out of Lake Gibson High School in Lakeland, FL. He was the Seminoles highest ranked prospect in the 2022 recruiting class and a national top 100 prospect. He signed with the Seminoles last December and enrolled at Florida State in January.
As a freshman in 2022, McCall played in eight games and recorded five tackles, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup on the season. He was also utilized as a return man on kickoffs and had eight returns for 142 yards with a long of 91.
He entered the transfer portal in December, and Texas A&M defensive backs coach TJ Rushing led Texas A&M’s recruiting efforts.
McCall is the Aggies’ second addition from the transfer portal and the second transfer portal cornerback, joining former Virginia Beach and North Carolina standout cornerback Tony Grimes.
