Finished in a big way.

In the regular season finale, No. 23 Texas A&M kept its momentum rolling on the road with a 9-3 win over Houston on Wednesday.

Junior Trinity Cannon kickstarted the offense with a two-out homer over center field in the top of the first inning. After Morgan Smith and Rylen Wiggins got on base, Allie Enright doubled to left to bring Smith home for A&M’s second run of the night.

“Our thing lately has been get them on, get them over and get them in,” Enright said. “I’m just trying to do my best to get on base and drive in runs for the team.”

The runs did not stop there, though.

In the same inning, Koko Wooley chased Cougars starting picher Taylor Edwards with a single to left field, plating Enright and Wiggins. The inning ended with freshman Amari Harper grounding into a double play, giving Houston a break from A&M’s hot offense.

The Cougars responded in the third. Bree Cantu slammed an RBI double before Britaney Shaw delivered an RBI single to left field.

But Wooley soon created too big of a deficit for the Cougars the next inning.

Riley Valentine, Star Ferguson and Enright filled the bases in time for Wooley to send a ball over right field for a grand slam, catapulting the Aggies to a six-run lead in the top of the fourth inning, 8-2.

“I made everything small at the plate and hit a strike,” Wooley said. “It was fun to have my family here and do it in front of them. It was the first (grand slam) of my career so it was just fun.”

Enright added the final touches to the blowout win with a solo home run over center in the fifth.

Wooley finished 2-for-4 with six RBIs, and Enright ended 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Cougars scored on a wild pitch in the seventh, but it wasn’t nearly enough to threaten.

“I thought offensively we did a lot of really good things tonight,” A&M head coach Trisha Ford said. “We had good at-bats from top to bottom. Koko (Wooley) I think had her first ever grand slam and obviously Allie Enright had a great game tonight. We had some good things happen in the box.”

Concluding regular season play, the Aggies now await their seeding for the Southeastern Conference Tournament beginning May 9.
