TexAgs' recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger joined TexAgs Radio on Wednesday morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail surrounding Texas A&M.

Key notes from Recruiting Country

  • Prospects from eight different states were here over the weekend. I think there were 15 officials and three unofficials. The state of Texas had seven guys here, three from Florida and three from Washington, which is kind of random. They haven't pulled a lot of kids from there. After nabbing Mark Nabou, I think A&M became a more realistic option for Washington prospects. I think that opened the door.

  • There was a wide area of prospects from across the country. Myles Davis‍ had great things to say about A&M. He wasn't shy about how he felt. A&M did a great job with Miles O'Neill‍. He just moved to New Jersey. He has really good arm talent. He hit it off with A&M commit Ashton Funk‍. A&M did great with Blake Ivy‍, Nate Kibble‍ and Ory Williams‍. Some of those guys are former teammates of Kam Dewberry at Atascocita and Noah Thomas at Clear Springs. There are familiar faces. They build trust. The recruits will trust the players.

  • You have to start getting kids. When I was at Stanford, I was looking around, and I walked by some guy with a Stanford shirt on. It was their biggest recruiting weekend. They nabbed 10 commitments for that weekend. A&M doesn't have to do that, but we have had sources tell us that things were extremely efficient. People are settling into their roles. The visitors told us it was running smoothly. That's encouraging for the rest of the season. Even though things are trending in the right direction, you have to land these guys. Drelon Miller‍ will announce his commitment at the end of the month. He has connections in Southeast Texas. We are watching O'Neill closely. The only real target with a date is Drelon Miller. He is supposed to be here next weekend.

  • Last weekend, it ran smoothly after the personnel change. Whoever they hired will have their own ideas. It's an easier transition for them with things running smoothly.

  • Funk doesn't do a ton of social media but will be on campus. He’s similar to Colton Thomasson. He is a sensational prospect and an even better kid. He is trying to be the valedictorian at Katy Tompkins, a large school. On his official visit, Steve Addazio and Jimbo Fisher said the plan is to stick at tackle. The thing that he stuck out is he has shorter arms, but he checks all the boxes. He isn't a T-Rex.

  • Daniel Cruz‍ is a Dallas kid and really high on A&M early. He formed a bond with Funk on a visit. A&M fell once he visited other places. They got him back on campus and made up a lot of ground. I like him as a center or guard. He has a defensive line background too. A&M may have to get him here for a couple of games.

  • You offer more guys than you can take. There are various reasons for an offer being committable. Sometimes you offer so early, and the player doesn't grow or excel. They give you an offer but then want them to come to camp to enhance their evaluation.

  • Kibble is underrated. He gets slept in for his athleticism. He is extremely light on his feet. He is a high priority for A&M.

  • Yes, I feel good about movement. I think you'll see movement with the baseball in the portal soon as well.

" Whoever they hired will have their own ideas."

So the hire has been made? It would seem the announcement should be coming soon considering we are in the thick of recruiting season…

I was referring to the ever present "underrated" proclamation that TA loves to put on virtually every non 5* recruit since they've existed.

But thanks for your input.
