Apex Performance of the Week: Diggs, Cooper, Smith & more
In this week's Apex Performance of the Week, we highlight Texas A&M's Edgerrin Cooper, Ainias Smith and Fadil Diggs, who played a large part in the Aggies' close-fought battle against Alabama last Saturday at Kyle Field.
David Nuño’s Performance of the Week: Cooper, Smith & Diggs
- With three sacks, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble, you cannot call Edgerrin Cooper the sleeper of the week. He is the freak of the weak. He has been on a consistent basis, without a doubt.
- This is now three or four weeks in a row with Ainias Smith domination. Four receptions, 88 yards and 46 return yards. He did not score a touchdown. I thought he scored a touchdown. I understand the TV angle was a little different. Where would this team be without him? He is so dependable. I love his energy. I love his focus. I love how he handles press conferences. Just everything about that dude, I am all in.
- Fadil Diggs had two sacks. When he gets hot, he gets hot. He is not just going to have one sack, but when he gets one, he’s usually going to get two. That is how he rolls. He had that stretch game last year but then got hurt.
- I would like to get Evan Stewart the ball more. In soccer, they reset the play where the referee interfered. I wish they would have done that because you cannot get in the way.
Olin Buchanan’s Performance of the Week: Anderson, Nolen & Stewart
- Cooper is a big hog hunter, and he was an elephant hunter on Saturday. He had three sacks, 11 tackles and a forced fumble. He is playing like an All-American, and that game verifies it.
- Smith had three opportunities to score touchdowns. One time, he stepped out, and the other two, they just couldn't get the ball to him. He's almost a perfect football player for what he does.
- I like Bryce Anderson. I thought Walter Nolen was playing really well. Stewart is playing well. They could get the ball to Stewart more if the referees would get the hell out of the way.
