Texas A&M volleyball rides a four-match win streak into the weekend with a pair of massive conference tests up ahead. Ahead of the Aggies' battles with No. 17 Florida and Georgia, head coach Jamie Morrison joined TexAgs Radio to talk about his squad.

Key notes from Jamie Morrison interview

  • I think every match coming up is crucial. Rematch with Florida. They were ranked fourth at the time, and we came out on top. They want to take that win back. Georgia’s record doesn't do them justice. That worries me a bit. Two really good matches this weekend.

  • Blocking wasn’t originally Morgan Perkins’ thing. I didn't think it would happen this quickly. It's no accident. She has been working really hard.

  • We’re big on the basics. If I were to rewind, I was trying to create robots where everyone looked the same. Now, I want them to look different. Be yourself. No two passers will ever look the same. I used to have to watch all this on VHS tapes.

  • Our recruiting class just got ranked. I asked our players what we were doing right. We are moving the culture in the right direction, and Reed Arena feels different than anywhere else. We are 17th in attendance. The vibe and feel of our gym? It's a fun atmosphere. It's the 12th Man. It's not just showing up, but being a part of the game. That is what makes this place special.

  • Be a thermostat. Control your emotions. We feed off the crowd. We are trying to entertain people. It's not just the crowd showing up. We are there to entertain them.

  • We are 2-24 against Florida. It’s hard to win at Florida. Sweeping would be big. The expectations have changed. I have all the respect in the world for Florida, and they have been at the top of this conference. We are capable of it. Every team in the country should be scared to play us.

  • Play good volleyball. We have a game plan, but let's be the best volleyball team we can be. The best team usually wins. Last week, Florida had another player who was hurt, so we'll see if she is out there. This is a physical volleyball team.
